It is cold and nasty outside, but we are warm inside:
— The big news of the day is the staff change initiated by Joker Phillips on both the offensive and defensive lines. I spoke to a couple of former players today who were unhappy about the news, but believed it was about a “change in recruiting emphasis.” It looks as if Joker will live or die with recruiting, and that will be the focus of the new regime.
— In other recruiting news, two big UK targets Quincy Miller and CJ Leslie are both in town. We have already talked about the Leslie game at Lexington Catholic on Saturday night, but Miller is playing on Friday at Lexington Christian. Both players will be at Rupp Saturday to see the Cats play Georgia.
— I assumed we could go with Obama liking John Wall and not get a political fight. I assumed wrong. One thing is certain, Wall was pretty blown away when he was told the news.
— You may have seen Kate Martin’s plus/minus efficiency ratings for the UK-UL game. That mirrors what we have seen all season. I spoke with someone who has done the ratings for six of the games (not including Louisville) and the rankings for efficiency on the team have been:
The ranking may surprise some, but it explains most of the substitution patterns that we have seen from this team.
More all day…the snow is making me cranky
