Put your goggles up, Mickey. Come on, man.
— First and foremost, if you’re just joining us for the day and haven’t scrolled down to Drew Barker’s first post on KSR, skip everything I have written for you here and get down there. Kentucky’s top 2014 commitment wrote a lengthy diary entry for Big Blue Nation earlier today that explains why he chose the Cats and what he’s doing to make sure other top-rated recruits join him in Lexington. It’s the first of many diary entries on this site from Barker and it really shows what a great leader he is already. We’re looking forward to having Drew on the site twice a month over the next six months or so until he enrolls at Kentucky.
Finally, this site has a Drew with some talent!
— In bigger news, Kentucky received a commitment from Jared Tucker, a three-star safety from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Word came out earlier this week that Tucker was prepared to commit during today’s visit, and that’s exactly what happened. With his commitment, UK now has the 10th best recruiting class in the nation. Wait, what?!
— The NBA trade rumor mill is rolling along with talks of the Orlando Magic’s interest in Eric Bledsoe. ESPN’s Chad Ford reported that Aaron Afflalo could be part of deal to send Bledsoe to the Magic, where he’ll be joined in the backcourt by Ben McLemore, Victor Oladipo or whoever Orlando takes with the second pick. The Clippers can’t hold on to Bledsoe forever and this offseason may be when he breaks through and lands his own starting job.
— I highly recommend you take a second to watch this video of two Boston Marathon heroes throwing out the first pitch in Fenway Park last night. It’s the two guys from one of the tragedy’s biggest stories.
— Matt Jones Vacation Watch: He is somewhere in West Texas, according to a tweet he sent a moment ago. He’ll be back in a week and a half. When Matt returns, I’m taking off for a week to attempt to play 18 holes of golf in 18 different states. I’ll tee off in Memphis, Tennessee and head west, making the turn in Las Vegas on my birthday, before playing the 18th hole in Lexington to complete the longest round of golf ever played. Let me know if you have any advice, suggestions or would like to sponsor the journey with a little gas money. Here’s the map.
