As we get ready for UK graduation weekend, some notes:
— All is quiet on the UK front today, with most people seeming to enjoy the Friday before graduation. A shout out goes to Mark Krebs, Patrick Patterson, Ramon Harris and Perry Stevenson, all of whom are graduating tomorrow. It bears repeating that this group of guys has seen more transition during their time at Kentucky than any other group potentially in its history. Three coaches, ups, downs and more media attention than ever before. They came through it all unscathed and wearing the jersey proudly and with respect. Three cheers for the group today and we wish them all the success going forward.
— If you are in Ashland tonight, the Barnstorming Tour starts at 7 pm at Paul Blazer High School. It should be a great event, in part because it will be a bit of a homecoming for Patrick Patterson, who is from nearby Huntington. I am leaving shortly to make the trip and if you are anywhere near the area, make sure and stop by.
— After the report of the ticket issue earlier, I spoke with Steve Masiello’s attorney who said that there is “not a scintilla of truth” to the allegations by the Oldham County Magistrate as to the $70,000 from the Kentucky Derby tickets. Sources tell me a civil action will be filed, but there is no indication of any criminal action going forth at this time involving Masiello.
— There are times that I wonder about people’s reading comprehension. After tweeting out that the media was ignoring the Masiello story (which they were, but I am guessing we will see it on the television news tonight and the newspapers tomorrow) and SPECIFICALLY saying that the story was no huge deal, a number of UL fans and KSR haters (some of which are UK fans) have been sending me nasty messages about how the story wasnt big enough. Folks, the site is free…you know this. If you dont like it, dont come! The one thing I agree with Maggard and Matt May and for that matter, everyone who runs websites, on is that I am not going to let people just come on here and blast our work and take personal shots at me or the writers here. There are sites I dont like…you know what I do with those sites….I dont go on them. If you hate KSR, TBK, Cats Pause, Card Chronicle, etc, just skip them. It would make your life and our lives easier.
— On that note, we will be instituting the registration feature for comments beginning on Sunday night. If you havent signed up, do it this weekend. We believe we have fixed the problem that caused some of you to not get emails when you initially registered. Test it out and on Sunday we will have directions to get your password if you have lost/forgotten it. Also the uncensored podcast will be available on Sunday as well, and we will likely go free of charge for this one. One day we may create a KSR app that we charge for those on, but for now…we are too lazy.
Come to the Barnstorming Tour if you can…if not, do something nice for your Mother.
