Today’s UK Fan of the Day took his porcelain Kentucky gnome to Florida for a weekend on the beach. I’m going to pretend like I don’t see anything else in that photo.
— If you stayed up late last night to watch Anthony Davis play for Team USA, you went to bed disappointed once the game ended. Davis did not see the floor in Team USA’s exhibition game against Argentina. Team USA jumped out to an early lead on Manu and the Argentinians, but that lead dwindled throughout, down to a single digit deficit in the final minutes. Kevin Durant led the way with 27 points in the 86-80 victory.
— Chris Walker committed to the Florida Gators in an oddly timed Sunday morning announcement, and he’s already hitting the streets of Twitter to recruit others to join him in Gainesville.
@22wiggins if u reclass,u coming to uf wit ya boy, shoot we could be ridiculous.

Yeah, good luck with that.
— Terrence Jones DOMINATED the NBA Summer League, but was surprisingly snubbed from the All-Summer League Team when it was announced yesterday. Jones averaged 18.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in five games, but couldn’t manage to join his two teammates, Jeremy Lamb and Donatas Motiejunas, on the list.
— Former Kentucky safety Marcus McClinton is taking his music career very seriously, and it really shows in this video, featuring sound bytes from the most powerful motivational speech ever.
— Jacob Tamme and a few of his fellow Denver Broncos visited victims from the Aurora, Colorado shooting in the hospital yesterday. Tamme used Twitter to share his thoughts from the day:
“Wow. I’ve got to tell ya, that visit was simply incredible. Had no idea what to expect walking in those doors. But the staff, victims, & families were so impressive. The loss of life is so tragic, but the spirit, resolve, & gratitude in that hospital was just awesome. So many amazing stories of heroism.
“A man shot in the leg telling the story of the 17 year old girl who stopped as others ran by & used her belt as a tourniquet on his leg. Nurses bragging on doctors, & doctors bragging on nurses. One doctor had no time to wait for an OR & began surgery in middle of the ER. Another victim and his friend jumped on the friends wife, and he took a bullet in the arm and leg. Met all 3 of them. Just incredible.
“Still some in critical condition, but amid all the chaos at Aurora Medical that morning, no loss of life … Bottom line, this is still a tragic story due to the awful loss of life. But it was great to see these folks who showed such courage. and, for a couple hrs in that hospital, no one spoke about a madman, but instead they told the stories that give u faith in humanity.”
— Matt and Ryan recorded today’s show at the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati UK Alumni Golf Scramble, where they pulled former UK greats James Lee and “Goose” Givens away from the golf for a couple of interviews. Matt also told the story of sending Jeff Goodman and the CBSSports.com boys a round of drinks, only to be turned down by the crew.
