Nice work, my friend. You deserve a handshake, but I’ll give you notes and a podcast instead. Let’s get to it.
— We’re just four hours away from the new Nike Hyper Elite Platinum uniforms! Can you feel it? Are you excited??? You hate it, don’t you?
— Dave O’Brien and Fran Fraschilla will call tonight’s game. Tipoff is at 7:00 pm and it’ll be televised on ESPN-U.
— Tennessee is 4-2 in its last six tries against the No. 1 team in the AP Poll. That’s a hell of a record. The Vols have won their last two tries — Kansas in 2010 and Memphis in 2008.
— Also, an interesting stat from the NBA, Brandon Knight is second among rookies in minutes per game. Only Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio averages more than Knight’s 32.6 minutes per game.
— I mentioned this last night in the night post but I know a lot of you didn’t read it because I wrote it. Let’s try it again so it doesn’t go unnoticed. Amile Jefferson’s father says his son is still considering Kentucky, despite reports last week that the 6-foot-7 power forward is down to Duke and NC State. Malcolm Musgrove said his his son stills talks to John Calipari and will wait until after his high school season to announce his decision. Jefferson’s Philly Friends Central High School starts playoffs next week and his season could potentially end on Tuesday.
— Tomorrow is college football’s National Signing Day. We’ll run a live journal throughout the day with updates as commitments roll in. Kentucky’s class is currently ranked No. 35 by Scout.com and it’s not in Rivals.com’s Top 50. We’ll see how it turns out tomorrow.
— The Rupp Task force released its final plan this morning in a meeting with important people in Lexington. The proposal calls for $250-$300 million for a renovation of Rupp Arena and the surrounding convention and civic center. That number seems pretty high on paper, but giant flags and stormtroopers are segways aren’t cheap.
— Andrew Cassady has an interesting post over on KSRCollege.com. He scoured the Internet to find the oddest UK collectibles available online and picked a couple of his favorites to share with readers. Dibs on the sketch card!
— Podcast after the jump. The last 30 minutes gets intense.
