UK Fan of the Day is Ready for Afternoon Notes

Kind of a slow Monday, but here we go:

— The big news of the day is still the talk of conference expansion around America. I spent today talking to some folks around the UL offices and they are genuinely worried. If all the moves are made as expected, there isnt any real home for Louisville that makes sense and (most importantly) they could be cut out of the BCS pie. With the Big Ten and ACC unlikely to take the Cards because of academics and the SEC unlikely to take because of the market, Louisville has no logical home. And basketball success wont save them…just ask Kansas who has a richer history and also no obvious home. The Nebraska/Missouri decision is making the Card brass VERY nervous.

— This weekend confirmed some news that we have assumed for some time, specifically that no current investigation into the Bledsoe matter is taking place. As we first stated on the podcast on Saturday, Calipari visited the NCAA office while he was in Indianapolis last week and according to Larry Vaught on Scout.com, asked what the situation was with the investigation. Vaught’s NCAA sources said that Calipari was upset, but that he got satisfactory answers and considers the case closed. Will Pete Thamel keep digging? I guess we shall see. But for now, take a deep breath.

— One thing I do wonder about is how this might affect the recruitment of Michael Chandler, a 2011 big man who I had been told was a likely UK commitment. Chandler’s grades will need to improve to get eligible and it may be the case that the Bledsoe situation could change UK’s interest in him. I havent heard that from any sources but it wouldnt be the worst guess in the world. Chandler, who was once a Louisville commitment, was likely headed to UK before Bledsoe. Now, who knows.

— I am told that John Wall will do some talk shows built around the NBA Draft, including potentially Dave Letterman. Call that a DVR moment for me.

— In case you hadnt noticed, the Twitter world got a lot more cranky today with the addition of Bryan the Intern to Twitter.. Click on his link and follow if you dont get enough BTI on a daily basis.

— And if you havent heard yet, take a listen to the new podcast at this link. We hit a number of topics and some of it is even relevant.

Or even better, subscribe to the podcast at this link and listen. There is goodness to be had.

Blogger Contest finalists coming tonight…stay tuned for more news or nothing, depending on how the day goes.
