UK currently watching Stanley Johnson

After watching Tyus Jones’ failed attempt to pull off a heroic comeback in Howard Pulley’s loss to Expressions Elite, John Calipari and Kenny Payne stuck around in Gym 4 to see another UK target in the third game of the session. Stanley Johnson, a recent confirmed visitor for Big Blue Madness, is trying to lead the Oakland Soldiers, Aaron Gordon’s former squad, against Meanstreet. Meanstreet features 2015 star Charles Matthews, one of only a few members of that class to already hold an offer from Kentucky.

Johnson is the No. 8 player in the Rivals and rankings. He’s currently getting smothered by Meanstreet defenders as RidgeRunner (one of our favorite KSR commenters) and I watch from above.

Tom Izzo isn’t paying attention.

Really sad we missed out on Aaron Gordon. That kid is going to be a star. He’s NBA ready now.

Not disputing the strong possibility that he becomes a star, but if you watched him at the mcdonald’s aa game, then you would know he is far from nba ready. Can we stop proclaiming superior HIGH SCHOOL players as nba ready before they have even set foot in the weight room?

@ 2! How do you miss on someone yet retain the #1 PF in the entire class? Julius Randle is no doubt who we wanted, and the top player in the entire class along w/ Andrew Wiggins. Aaron Gordon has plenty of upside, but has a limited skill set. Give me Julius Randle all day. I’m sure had Julius Randle declared to Kansas then yes we would want the next best plaer at that position, but it wasn’t the case. #incalwetrust

#2 – Aaron Gordon can jump really high, and that’s about all I have to say about that. What Mcdonald’s game were you watching? A dude that cherry-picks his way to 20 something points in an all-star game really isn’t that impressive.

Stanley Johnson ranked as the top small forward. So how did he look?

Coaches feet on the sideline -literally. So ridge runner made the trip with you guys maybe he can let us know how Johnson looked? Aaron Gordon is the real deal and just one that got away. But I trust Cal as always.

Yeah the goal sucking clearly wasn’t happening in the Jordan Brand game when he disappeared. Once scouted his jumping ability will only get him so far. I’m guessing he disappears like Shabazz Muhammed before the end of the year. I’m glad Billy Donavon loved his motor agains sub par sad foreign teams in their age division. Haha thats about as funny as listening to all the sad HOEsier fans in the office talk about Yogi Ferrel and Will Sheehey having good summers against sad foreign teams when they are on a far superior team!

Yea I think Gordon is a bit overrated, the kid can jump out of the gym but can’t shoot and when it’s time to play D1 college opponents night in and night out your not going to be able to just dunk over people like in highschool, randle is by far the better of the 2 and much happier we missed on Gordon and got randle than the other way around.
