UK could be an option for UCF’s Keith Clanton

Hmmm… this is interesting.

According to The Tampa Bay Times, Kentucky could be an option for Central Florida’s Keith Clanton. The 6-foot-9 forward hasn’t decided whether or not he’ll return to the Knights next season after the NCAA hit the school with a postseason ban. If he decides to transfer, UK and Florida State are two options for the senior and he’ll be able to play immediately.

Clanton was first team All-Conference USA last season. He started all 33 games for the Knights and averaged 14.5 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Would he be a senior or what?

First team all-conference in C-USA…… Is that good? According to most UK fans, that would be a joke when UL players made all conference in C-USA. I guess your opinion has probably changed now with UK interested in this kid. Yeah, I’m laughing at you.

if this were a football recruit yall wanting to transfer to UK who had good size, put up good numbers, and was all conference…in conference usa there would already be 25 posts on here bashing joker, mitch, uk, the recruit, and the entire football program. Kentucky fans suck. Either stand up and support these kids regardless of who our coach is or shut up.

8 – Calipari turns 5 stars into pros. Calipari turns Harrellson’s and Liggins’ into… oh yeah… pros. See the trend there? 1st team all C-USA will suffice for Calipari if necessary. Big Blue is laughing at you.

The guy can shoot 3’s too. Hit 4-5 against UCONN and 2-4 against Memphis last year in upset wins. 6-9 245. Pretty solid.

We could definitely use another guy for depth this season, plus he will graduate after this season which will not hurt us with signings in 2013. Win Win to me

MJ’s son, Marcus Jordan, is also available. It would be fun just to sign him to say that we have Jordan’s son. Plus he would be decent coming off the bench for KW minutes from last year

Bring him as the starter for Kyle Wiltjer. Then, KW can come off the bench, and play an even bigger role for the cats. Kyle can come off the bench this year and still get a lot more minutes.

UL fans are so cute on this message board. It’s like watching a little baby throw a tantrum. Seriously guys, take your final 4 beat down like a man. The best team, program, coach, and fan-base won.

Lastly, you might want to stop insulting Calipari. When our coaches are all washed up, they go to UL for their pension plan.

Nothing to see here, move along. FSU promised him 35 minutes per game. He is not coming here.

  32. CATS
    6:16 pm August 7, 2012 Permalink

As much as I would like to get this kid to come to UK, #31 may be right in saying he is more likely to go to FSU. He would get a lot more minutes and he wouldn’t even have to leave Florida. Plus, he’s a senior. Might not want to play second fiddle. Who knows though, Julius Mays is a great example of a transferring senior wanting to play for the best team, not where he can get the most minutes. Every player is different. Hope he follows in May’s shoes and makes the right choice.

@31 – FSU can promise him 35 minutes per game but they can’t promise to maximize his chances at landing in the NBA…

If we can land this Clanton, my hopes for a repeat SKYROCKET! He is a built, experienced PF that will teach Noels and Cauley some things, and will add that toughness we need down-low! With him, Mays, Harrow, and Wiltjer as experience, I will have a permanent smile on my face.

We will be a legit 8 deep!! Bring him in Cal!

  36. jpgott2
    6:35 pm August 7, 2012 Permalink

The UK brand under Cal, will maximize his exposure, while winning a crap load of games! Show him the top-6 in rotation always make the NBA. He would start at the 4, with Wiltjer being the hybrid 3/4 for a mismatch. He would make UK very deadly!

  37. Capt Obvious
    7:09 pm August 7, 2012 Permalink

Wow…Now that rotation looks pretty solid IMO….9-10 deep. But title contender…hmmm. Not too sure.

    C – Noel, Cauley-Stein
    PF – Clanton, Wiltjer
    SF – Poythress, Hood
    SG – Goodwin, Mayes
PG – Harrow, Beckham, J.Beiber twin

    38) In most years that would be true but the talent level in college this next season is much lower than in recent history. We are already considered a title contender so adding another contributor wouldn’t take us out of that category.

Dude #26 that might be the best post I’ve ever seen on a message board describing Little Brother and their UK Envy. That was some good shtt man LOL.
Hey UL Fans, your version of Pitino reminds me of the modern day Pam Anderson as the old, washed up, skank tattoo’s, layed in the tanning bed too long with a nice fat case of Hep C. Our version of Pitino to Pam Anderson would be when she was smoking hot and on Bay Watch, in Playboy and everybody’s dream. I agree with #26, you like our sloppy second’s but those sloppy seconds haven’t quite panned out for ya… 2 final fours in 11 years is pretty lousy and average.
Hey UL fans, I’m kinda bored and looking for a good smile so I might watch the final four game for the second time this week. There isn’t anything that brings me more joy then beating Little Brother especially in the final four and on our way to our EIGHTH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE? OH THAT’S RIGHT ONLY 2 LOL

He is the all time leading shot blocking in UCF history, for whatever that might be worth. Maybe not saying much coming from UCF, but still shows the potential he may have on defense for us if we get him and he is able to learn more defensively under Cal.
