UK commit arrested

If we hype up the good, we must at least mention the bad…

One of UK’s three early commitments for the class of 2009, Jerrell Greene, was arrested last Tuesday at a Kroger in Lexington and charged with first degree robbery.  The running back from Dunbar, according to police, started a fight with two employees who tried to stop him after they saw him attempting to steal four bottles of the medicine Coricidin.  This over-the-counter decongestant is sometimes used as a recreational drug or as a guitar slide if you are in the Allman Brothers or Lynard Skynard.  It’s not immediately clear what Greene’s intentions with the bottles were or how this will affect his scholarship situation with UK.  However, I do think this increases his chances of rocking out with the Allman Brothers.

Last year, the 6’2″, 210 pound back carried 113 times as a junior for 693 yards and caught 22 balls for 469 yards. Greene, an early favorite for Mr. Football, is also rumored to have an official 4.5 time in the 40 and placed 5th in the state in 2007 with a 10o-yard dash time of 11.25 seconds.  He, along with OL Larry Warford and WR LaRod King, make up UK’s early class of 2009.
