UK can pull the upset Sept 2nd

Well we already knew Kentucky would be an underdog on Sept. 2 as Louisville is favored by as many as 13. Today the AP top 25 was released and Louisville squeaked in at number 25. While that may be a little high for the Cards the ranking does give the Cats a chance to pull off a win against a top 25 team. With a win over the Ville and a couple of wins over the cupcakes on the schedule perhaps the Wildcats can sneak into the top 25 before heading down to Florida.

The full top 25 list is below:

1 USC (25) 0-0 1445
2 Alabama (17) 0-0 1411
3 LSU (16) 0-0 1402
4 Oklahoma (1) 0-0 1286
5 Oregon 0-0 1274
6 Georgia 0-0 1107
7 Florida State 0-0 1093
8 Michigan (1) 0-0 1000
9 South Carolina 0-0 994
10 Arkansas 0-0 963
11 West Virginia 0-0 856
12 Wisconsin 0-0 838
13 Michigan State 0-0 742
14 Clemson 0-0 615
15 Texas 0-0 569
16 Virginia Tech 0-0 548
17 Nebraska 0-0 485
19 Oklahoma State 0-0 430
20 TCU 0-0 397
21 Stanford 0-0 383
22 Kansas State 0-0 300
23 Florida 0-0 214
24 Boise State 0-0 212
25 Louisville

I think we’ve got a very good shot at winning the UL game. I’d really like for someone in the “UL’s gonna kill UK” crowd to break down the Cards’ amazing advantage in this game (other than home field). Strong is a good coach but he’s not Knute Rockne. I like our chances.

Sorry, but wins over Louisville, Western, and Kent. St. will not have us in the Top 25.

It’s never an upset for kentucky to beat louisville and to say otherwise is blasphemy

Never blasted Corey or BTI on here, but that Andrew’s top 25 statement may be the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Even if we managed to sweep heading into FLA, that would take our ranking from 92nd to somewhere in the 40s-50s probably.

Put money on UK then… I’ll pay u 450 bucks for every 100 u risk.. Put up 1000 bucks on UK to beat Louisville and if it happens… U get paid 4,500.00 bucks!!! Not a bad days work

Polls are stupid. There are 50 teams better than UL.

@3 – UK has a chance, but Louisville has a significant advantage at quarterback for starters. Teddy makes any of our guys look like chumps.

UK winning over U of L is not likely but could happen. I’d give them about a 35-40% shot of winning the game. Additionally, I agree with #4 in that winning over a team that barely sqeaked in to the top 25 and two teams nowhere close to the top 25 would not get us many, if any, votes to be ranked ourselves.

Also, to #5, I agree it’s not much of an upset for UK to beat U of L unless you’re talking about any team between 1998-2006. In those years, U of L was vastly superior to UK and to say otherwise is silly.

9 — Agree again. Teddy Bridgewater is a fantastic quarterback/playmaker whether our fans want to accept it or not. Also, Eli Rogers and DeVante Parker are damn good receivers and we have yet to see any of our guys step up at the wide-out position.

#6 Can’t fault me for some wishful thinking. The only way they would get close is if the somehow were 4-0. Snowballs chance of that

Are you drunk? Yes we could be Louisville, but just winning those few games is not going to put us in the top 25!

U guys realize wku will also be favored to beat us, right. Uk will only be favored to win in 2 games this year. So we will be trying to “pull an upset” all freakin year.

Rankings-especially in the early season-are based on voters’ perception of where you are in the off season, then adjusted each week. Winning the first three games on our schedule against a marginal top 25 team and two cupcakes wouldn’t even get us a single vote in the poll.

How does KSR vet its writing staff? A win over a barely ranked UofL, WKU, and Kent State would not get you anywhere close to a an early season ranking, particularly when every sports authority (like CBS’ #92) talks about how sorry they are looking. A win against Florida in addition to the first three games might break the top 25. MIGHT. Go ahead an pray for your upset kitty cats. It’ll make Sept 2nd all the more enjoyable for us.

I love UK as much as the next guy…..but the “sneak into the top 25” statement is just retardedly ridiculous. PLEASE, PLEASE KSR…..quit making us (UK fans) all look like idiots.

#10- UL was vastly superior to UK most of the years from 1999-2006, but remember we missed a chip shot fg to win in 2000 and lost in OT… We destroyed them in 1998 by 34 and handled them in 2002 by nearly crippling Dave Ragione… All of these games were at UL… Vastly superior? Did you just forget these games happened?

10- UL vastly superior from 2003-2006… Once Petrino arrived they dominated us…

There are obviously a lot of Big East homers in the polls giving UL some unwarranted votes. UL was AWFUL last season. I don’t really see how a team that is awful gets ranked in the Top 25. We are not a good team, but UL will be lucky to beat us.
