Well, that was long overdue. Rider started the game quickly but then ran into problems as UK showed a renewed effort on the defensive end. Even when UK’s D broke down, Rider was unable to connect on wide open shots. That led to a quick UK lead that was never really in jeopardy as the Wildcats held the Broncs to 31.6% from the field.
Daniel Orton provided plenty of spark off the bench in the first half. He ran the floor, dunked, hit open shots and had a sweet no-look pass to Patterson for a thunderous jam late in the first. He played so well that he started the second half over Boogie.
Patterson had a double double before halftime and threw down some serious dunks throughout the game. He finished with an impressive 19 points and 18 rebounds.
John Wall continued to impress with his speed and athletic ability. He notched 21 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Overall, the Wildcats played extremely well and ended up with 50.7% shooting from the field.
Drew will have a post in a bit with comments from the game. Until then, breathe a sigh of relief. All is right with the world.
