UK Baseball shutout by UT, Stoops throwing first pitch this week

Instead of bouncing back from yesterday’s nail-biting 10-9 loss, the baseball team suffered another setback today. Heading into today’s game against the Volunteers, the series was tied at one a-piece. Tennessee shutout the #14 Cats 5-0 today, thus taking the three game series 2-1. UT pitcher Zack Godley threw 130 pitches and gave up only six hits in picking up the complete game shutout win.

The squad now sits with a record of 24-11 overall, 7-8 in SEC play. While it is very unfortunate to see the ranked UK baseball team stumbling after dropping a series to LSU last week, there is certainly still hope –  and it may come in the form of a football coach who is riding a heater. According to UK Athletics, Mark Stoops will be throwing out the first pitch against Louisville on Tuesday. The fearless football leader takes the mound around 6:30 PM that evening when the game gets underway.

Looks like UK baseball trying to drop off the radar screen. Losers of 5 of last 6 and now under .500 in SEC. Looks like the trend may continue because UL coming to town on Tues. and they seem to have the momentum on all sports fronts. Cats finding the SEC to be a lot tougher than outside.

LOL at UK. The most irrelevant college team in all of sports!

While I agree UK is not as good as UL, we are still better than WKU!

We do seem to be in a slump! LSU sweep was quite devastating! We beat UL earlier and I look for a solid game against them. Baseball is very much a mental game and I look for the Cats to bounce back. TN may very well be a lot better than people predict. It is a long season and we must stick by our team.

    8. It takes more than one year to become a powerhouse. Try some consistency. If UK wasn’t relevant, you wouldn’t troll our websites.

What did you say last year? The NC was in the past? Shoe’s on the other foot now. Everyone is talking recruiting and preseason, in basketball land anyway. Enjoy your championship while everyone else looks to next year. That’s what we did.
