Maybe I should care about this championship game. I mean at least in theory, there is a lot to be interested in. Here is an SEC team, led by what some believe to be the future coach of Kentucky, Billy Donovan (and by the way if Billy D wins a title tomorrow night, we will never see him in Lexington). The Gators have a number of future pros, including the player everyone loves to hate, Joakim Noah. They are up against the UCLA Bruins, trying to win another title to add to the 11 they already have and further distance themselves from the Cats all time. This should be a game I care about.
But for whatever reason I dont. I would like to pull for an SEC team to win, but I just cannot make myself cheer for the chest pounding Noah, the flexing Al Horford or the Seal lookalike Taurean Green. I respect their ability and desire, but I dont like them. And who wants to pull for UCLA? Its in Los Angeles for goodness sake.
So I will watch the game….but I wont like it. And in the meantime, I will try to figure out who takes over for Herbie Sendek at my 3rd favorite college program….that is much more exciting.
