University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Tyreke Evans to Memphis

Well, it’s not like Tyreke Evans was coming down the wire to any of the schools that most of you are concerned with, but I’d like to point out one passage from this story on Evans’ decision.

Instead, Evans was swayed by Memphis’ dribble-drive-motion offense, a scheme that quick is becoming a favorite trend among players. More free form, it is especially appealing to guards who get to break down their man off the dribble.

Before long, the DDM offense will be one of the top two systems of choice in college basketball.  Any high school guard that saw how Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts consistently got the ball in isolation, probably more than any guards not in the NBA, has to salivate at the chance to play at Memphis.  I don’t know if there’s any better preparation for the NBA for a guard than that system.Rather than continuing to hire these mid-major coaches running those paint-dry offenses, it might be time to start looking at this offense as a way for lagging big-time schools to step it up.  Dollars to donuts says implementing the system will pick up recruiting by itself.
