Because of Tim Couch, I switched from being a 49ers fan (because Steve Young was retiring) and became a Browns fan. 14 years later, the 49ers made the Super Bowl and the Browns are well… but I’m still a Browns fan. I think Tim Couch gets too much flack for being a ‘bust’. He was the starting QB for Cleveland’s only playoff season since they returned to the league, and I think he’s the best QB Cleveland’s had since returning to the league.
So where is the new KSR website? So is Uncle Matt on his way back to KY?
I am sure Tim Couch has to be happy with this program now, can you ask how he got involved with the hire of Stoops?

Think about this: If Couch doesnt get picked #1 in 1999, he more than likely falls to Minnesota….a team with a veteran o-line, and Cris Carter and Randy Moss…. he is still playing now I think if that happened
25. I tell people this all the time and the only thing anyone remembers is that he was a “bust”. I read somewhere that Cleveland led the NFL is sacks given up and the only time Tim was healthy for a season that Cleveland actually made the playoffs. It was a situation where being the top pick was a bad thing.

Glad to hear Tim talk about how impressive Mumme’s coaching tree is. So many successful coaches out there who either played or coached under him or one of his coaches/players.

Matt Jones once tried to guard Tim Couch in high school basketball. That did not end well for Mr. Jones.

I was the guy who wrote the post yesterday about Tubby under BBN. Why do people take up for Tubby? Lets get something straight from the beggining I like Tubby Smith. Tubby is the nicest coach and maybe “best person” to coach the cats in my lifetime. I really liked Rick and Cal but lets be honest they are the kind of guys that you have to watch your kids ears if they are in the room. However, his coaching was lacking in almost all aspects. I will give him one thing every few years he would bring in a big name or two but it was obviouse to most fans that while those players were under his guidance they would either regress or never reach their potential. I talk to so many fans who are so surprised how good Rondo turned out to be and I always answer the same way “I’m not surprised at all he was great but did not have a quality coach to help him reach his potential”. How can you take over the top team in the WORLD and seamingly leave us disappointed at the end of every season. I can’t ever remember going into so many seasons with so many high expectations and leave the year so discusted by what we accomplished. I am not one of these fans who expect to win it all every year but when you are known for your teams never living up to expectaion you can’t be honored at that school on the level that you are suggesting. When you take UK to the low levels that he did how can you ever be known for something else.
I wish Tim had a permanent spot on KSR. I could listen to him every day. Long live the Deuce!
Tim is a great example that you can be highly successful in life by playing fb at KENTUCKY..
With football departures, I’m concerned about the team depth at the “Entertaining Tweeter” position. Who does UK have that can provide the entertaining tweets requiring translation by Ryan, Matt and Shannon? Stoops must step up and find a player that can maintain the social media entertainment that Bookie provided.

40 — Tubby deserves recognition. He wasn’t the most successful coach at UK, but he also kept us as one of the nation’s very best. You cannot expect every coach to have the success of Cal or Pitino.

Why do you not have an Ashland affiliate ?
Couch was good but not the best. George Blanda, Jeff Van Note, Dermontti Dawson, Art Still, Lou Michaels, Babe Parilli and Randall Cobb all had longer careers. They all played in NFL for significant amount of time. (Cobb 2 years barring injury he will probably be UK all time leading NFL receiver)
