Two Bat Cats are off the board

Believe it or not, the NBA Draft isn’t the only big event this month for former UK sports stars.  Day 2 of the MLB Draft is underway and two Bats Cats were picked up today in the fourth round.  Second basemen Chris Bisson was drafted 124th overall by the Padres and pitcher James Paxton went 132nd overall to the Mariners.

Bisson batted .329 as a junior this season and was named second team All-SEC in both 2009 and 2010.  Bisson led the SEC with 32 stolen bases in 39 attempts on the year.

Paxton played independent league ball this year rather than returning to school after a dispute with the university. He was drafted in the first round of last year’s supplemental draft and would’ve been the highest drafted player to ever return to school.

Go Cats.

**** UPDATE ****

UK junior left-handed pitcher Logan Darnell was selected in the sixth round (195th overall) by the Minnesota Twins.
