By now you all are familiar with Tony Wroten Jr. Or at least with his twitter. This is the kid that is all but publicly courting Kentucky, instead of the other way around. And on top of that, he is ranked in the top 25 for his class, the same one in which the number one (Gilchrist) and two (Teague) players have already committed to Kentucky, with the number three (Miller) looming in the distance. Ah, it’s nice to have these kind of problems.
Wroten becomes an interesting case, then, because it’s clear he is talented. It’s clear he wants to come to Kentucky. What remains unclear… is there a mutual interest from Kentucky to Wroten? With Calipari having already locked up so much talent for that class, and with an undetermined amount of scholarships available, it is almost a numbers question as to whether he has an offer or not. Some sites have claimed Wroten has already been offered, while others don’t list UK as a potential suitor (*cough* ESPN *cough*.) While Wroten’s latest tweet doesn’t clear the air on the matter entirely, it does prove that he is being recruited by the Big Blue.
Via tonetone13: Just got off the phone wit coach calipari. Lol man o man. Had a great talk. He gone be down in Germany
If Wroten is to be believed, Calipari is keeping in contact with him. What this means as far as a commitment from either side is up in the air, but at least we know they’re keeping in touch.
All I know is, he is also considering Washington. So expect him to suit up in Blue in a year and a half.
