Tweet Beat: Derek Anderson wants to be buried in Rupp Arena

As part of the never-ending quest to bring you University of Kentucky news in the most ridiculous manner possible, I comb the Twitter-verse each week for the funniest, oddest, and sometimes, nearly illegible tweets from your favorite players and personalities. Basically, I read Twitter so you don’t have to. Without further ado, here are the best tweets of the week.

Before we get started, I’d like to issue this special Tweet Beat bulletin: Doron Lamb finally went to Disney World.

Sadly, no tweets about Mickey, Minnie or Sleepy the dwarf (“lmfao he sleepy AF”) yet, but stay tuned…

Back to the show! Brian Long‘s not done enjoying his two minutes of play during the Mississippi State game. He even good-naturedly corrected Alex Poythress‘ tweet about him getting “shots up.”

This weekend, I say we all get some “shots up” in Brian’s honor. I know he’ll appreciate it.

Also appreciative? Twany Beckham, who was able to check in and get on the stat sheet against his former team. Beckham’s been plagued by back problems all season, but Cal let him suit up and check in for his second to last game in Rupp. Twany was so grateful that he reposted this picture a fan made on Instagram of the experience:

Derek Anderson was the “Y” for the Missouri game, and took the opportunity to stop and give Dickie V a hug:

Joe B. photobomb FTW? Anderson has become a close friend of the program under Cal’s watch, and loves UK so much that he says he wants to be buried in Rupp Arena:

Maybe we could be like UGA, who buries their past bulldog mascots in the end zone, except do that with former Wildcat greats? No? Too morbid? Yes. That just got a little creepy.

Miss Stone Cold Willow’s dance off during the GameDay commercials? Kyle Wiltjer’s got you covered:

(Click the link if you dare.)

Josh Hopkins has a new nickname for Julius Mays:

I like it.

Seeing Alex Poythress smile will never get old. Nor will seeing Brian Long in street clothes.

In case you missed the coverage on the site today, the 1996 team had a great time during their ring ceremony last night. Here are a few of their tweets about the event:

(Wayne Turner)

Fun ’96 team fact: Rex Chapman, Kenny Walker, and Jamal Mashburn trained with them during the summers while they were at UK:

Ron Mercer wasn’t able to attend the ceremony due to travel problems, but was it really because he had a litter of puppies being born?

(Obligatory PUPPIES! freakout)

The football team is pretty excited that almost 25,000 tickets have already been distributed to the Spring Game:

If you’re not excited about football after that, check out this tweet from Rich Brooks:

Please let these conversations continue. #lafamilia

In case you were wondering, Willie Cauley-Stein has an interesting chest tattoo:

Any guesses as to what it is? It kind of looks like that wooden fish instrument that we used to play in elementary school to me.

I’m glad to see Doron Lamb is still taking care of his feet and throwing up three goggles:

Who up? #gogglesup

Patrick Patterson has a bone to pick with Uncle Julius:

Bigger picture, Patrick…bigger picture.

Eloy knows a good fashion model when he sees it:

Charlotte-area Cat fans: help a BBN brother out.

Earlier this week, Tony Delk met up with another champ, current WBA light middleweight champion Austin Trout:

I would laugh at this, but we actually still own a VCR.

Even though he’s no longer affiliated with the program, Joker Phillips still bleeds blue:

Clowns on the golf course? MADNESS!

Campus police don’t mess around:

It sounds like Danny Trevathan had a rough week:

But I think everything ended up okay?

You know Landon Foster was going to get some face time with Samantha Ponder at GameDay:

There was some fierce competition for “Tweet That Makes You Go Aww,” but I have to give it to Darius Miller and his new puppy, Jinx:

TWEET OF THE WEEK:

This tweet from Mark Stoops about the Spring Game ticket sales makes me love him even more.

#ALLCAPSNONAPS! Until next time, RT plz?
