Trevor Lacey to visit this weekend

It has been rumored for a few days, but it now appears to be set.  Four-star shooting guard Trevor Lacey will be in Lexington this weekend for Kentucky’s beatdown of the Gamecocks, taking an unofficial visit.  Lacey, a prolific scorer who is rising in many rankings, is also considering his home schools, Auburn and Alabama, and has offers from UConn and Kansas.  And, of course, he has a song.

Watch him work.

You have to assume that this means Lamb is going pro. Cal wouldn’t still go after a SG if Lamb was staying. There would be absolutely no need. Or would it?

I don’t think there is a very good chance we see TL in KY blue next year. The only way I think it happens is if Knight or Lamb goes pro. If they come back, that would presumably make Lacey our 4th option at guard meaning he will probably never see the floor unless the game is a blowout.

2 – I wouldnt read that much into it. Cal has shown over the last decade or so that he will get the best guys to fit the system no matter the position. Remember he has said he would even run 3 PGs out there if he could. We could always play small with Doron or Lacey rotating the 2 or 3. There’s room for both.

5- You make great points. So smart.

6- Not sure about that. Going that small would be extremely surprising, that would put at least two of Miller, Liggins and Gilchrist on the bench. I guess that would just mean Lacey would have to accept to sit most of his freshman year.

9)Maybe he wants to be part of one the best college basketball teams ever assembled(TALENT WISE). He averages about 35 a game. Have you watched his highlights? So people complain about one and dones, then people say players will not come, because we are too deep at a certain positions. Cal goes after the best players no matter what positions and this kid is a stud. You want him to be here, who cares if we have Liggins, Gilchrist, Miller, Knight, Teague, and Lamb. Three guard spots with 6 players is a great problem to have. Hood and Poole are the ones you should worry about getting off the pine, because they won’t.

That was the worst defense I have ever seen in that video. Those kids were barely trying.

#9) are you suggesting you like to play with no depth…you’ve got brainwashed by thinking that every player we get needs to be 1 and done in order to bring more players talented players in, that every talented freshman needs to start right away.

24 — No way during the season. Coach Cal would be all over it. They have a whole CATS center for academic tutoring that would be all over it. Wouldn’t surprise me to see it happen after the season — like Daniel Orton.

    PG – Marquis Teague
    SG – Trevor Lacey
    SF – Mike Gilcrest
    PF – Darius Miller
    C – Anthony Davis

Off bench — Deandre Liggins at wing positions, Mike Wiltjer at frontcourt positions

Terrance Jones will be a lottery pick. Brandon Knight will go in the first round. Doron Lamb will pull a Bledsoe and surprise us by leaving after one year — perhaps by sneaking into bottom of first round or early second.

We can play more than 5 guys. There’s this thing called a bench, and people can share time. Just because we’re recruiting someone doesn’t mean someone is leaving.
