Trevard Lindley Trying Out for Bengals

Trevard picking up his first NFL interception last season

As we followed the preseason journey for the former Cats in the NFL, we were all disheartened to hear about a special Cat cornerback who was cut from the Philadelphia Eagles right before the start of the season.  Drew reported on immediate interest from the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons for him, but now it looks like another suitor is showing interest…

Trevard Lindley tried out for the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday.  We all know Trevard is very talented and should get on somewhere.  A lot of UK fans happen to be Bengals fans due to Cincy’s proximity, so this would be an ideal landing spot for him.

The rub?  Former Pro-Bowler CB Lito Sheppard also tried out along with Trevard.  Sheppard also had a great career in Philadelphia, but his best days are behind him.  We hope Lindley’s best days still lay ahead.  The Bengals are in dire need of another healthy cornerback for this weekend’s game against the Denver Broncos.  Jennings is injured and may not be 100% for game time, and the Broncos were loading the field with receivers Monday night (although Lloyd and Moreno did not practice today).

If Trevard gets picked up, let’s hope its not for a one week stint.  Good luck, kid.

Don’t do it. Unemployed could be better!

Awesome! I was hoping the Bengals would give Trevard a chance. I say he makes the team.

As a diehard Birds fan, I was really excited about Trevard’s future with the Eagles. I was bummed they cut him, but not really surprised. They cut him because he’s better on the outside than covering the slot receiver. J. Hanson is only good as a slot CB, so they couldn’t keep him, Lindley, Nnamdi, Asante, and DRC. The numbers just didn’t work in his favor. Too bad.

I know they were high on Lindley, but all of a sudden, the Eagles just had too many quality CBs. He will land on another team’s roster. I just hope he doesn’t end up with the G-Men. I can’t believe he hasn’t worked out with them yet.

On another note- Trvard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lito.

Sheppard’s was once a great corner, but he’s done. He was pretty much toast when Philly let him go. If the Bungles sign him instead of Lindley, it will only be a matter of weeks until Lito’s hurt, and they have to sign Lindley anyway.

The Ravens secondary is dinged up. I keep hoping they will give Lindley a call.

Try “lie” instead of incorrect “lay” for present tense.
