…Is that guy on the left wearing a glove?
In honor of tonight’s U.S. Presidential Official Re-enactment of the Lincoln vs. Douglas Debates, we thought it proper to examine some topics that are subject to debate within the Big Blue Nation right now. Plenty is happening in our world and there are (at least) two sides to each issue. Comment and let us know which side you fall on, and then watch as the other commenters remind you that your opinion doesn’t matter. Unless they agree with you, of course.
Harrison Twins: UK/Cal vs. Maryland/Under Armour — The twins pick tomorrow and there’s been a ton of news flying around regarding their father’s comments about an Under Armour guy being the only person allowed to call the boys at this time. Will is play a factor? I don’t think so. Other top 2013/2014 recruits agree, as 100% polled by Jason Jordan of USA Today said the Harrisons end up at UK. But hey, SMU could still sneak in and steal this package deal from under everyone’s noses Ralph Nader/Ross Perot/Gary Johnson-style.
Football Coaching: Joker Phillips vs. [insert rumored name here] — After a great, exciting first half against South Carolina and the subsequent ass-kicking UK took in the second half, this debate is nearly as dead as Ron Paul’s campaign.
Patrick Towles: Redshirt vs. No Redshirt — This is a tough one that kinda narrows the room for debate due to Max Smith’s injury questions. After deciding to not fully implement the highest touted recruit of Joker’s tenure into the offense and redshirt him, I think it’s kind of unfair to Patrick to burn his redshirt now that he won’t get a full season of proper playing time and experience. However, injuries make drastic decisions necessary, otherwise the coaching staff would be mailing it in. Seems like it’s too late to convince anyone otherwise now.
Barber Shop: Flat Top vs. Unibrow — I’m going to offer a third solution. Afro with headband, 1970s ABA-style.
Running Game: Jonathan George vs. Raymond Sanders — With CoShik Williams done for the season, these two guys are needed more than ever. Both have shown flashes, but who do we rely on? Both. They may be able to coexist as co-billed headliners for the Cats.
Leading Scorer: Noel vs. Goodwin vs. Poythress vs. Wiltjer — This would be the most fun topic of discussion. All four guys could lead the team in scoring, and it wouldn’t be out of the question to add Willie Cauley-Stein into the equation based on hearsay. I believe that Goodwin will take the most shots per game, followed by Poythress, and rightfully so. And thus that will translate into more points per game. Wiltjer’s three ball throws a wrench into the equation if he’s getting consistent PT due to improved defense. Noel could end up the most efficient scorer, however. Time will tell.
