Tommy Tuberville left recruits at dinner to take the Cincinnati job

If Devonte Danzey, a junior college offensive lineman, commits to Texas Tech, it won’t be because Tommy Tuberville left a good impression at dinner last weekend.  Danzey told Wreckem247.com that Tuberville stood up and left the dinner table before the food arrived, and never returned.

“The waitress brought our food out, and we thought he went to the bathroom, but he never came back to dinner,” Danzey said.

Danzey, who was on an official visit to Lubbock, found out the next morning during his campus tour that Tuberville had accepted the job in Cincinnati.  There were at least two other recruits at dinner.

Check please.

Wow, he officially wins douche of the year. No respect at all, I hope his future recruits get wind of this. How can you just walk away and not at least finish dinner and tell them? Wow!

I’m still trying to figure out why he left TT for Cincinnati? Is Lubbock that bad?

I should teach him table manners.

I’m sure that gives the hiring authorities at Cincy a warm fuzzy feeling that they hired a class act.

that is one sorry, no-account individual….i believe if i’d been cinci i would’ve rescinded my offer when i got wind of this

but that might’ve been expecting more class outta cincinnati than they’re capable of delivering

A true professional. You would think this would make Cincy nervous as to what he will do when he gets his next offer.

    The dip!

Excellent, excellent. +1 on the execution.

I tried the dip once at Jalepenos in Lex, I ended up getting abducted in the bathroom, fun times in Mehico tho.

TT was the victim of a ponzi scheme a few years ago (maybe the same one that got Billy Clyde).
I’m sure he needs money so with the heat on him at TT, TT got a longer contract and a cash infusion from Cincy.

Don’t know the whole story, but it kind of sounds a lot like a big FU to Texas Tech. Like a disgruntled worker kind of deal. Tommy must have been miserable there. Wonder what the rest of the story is. This is not that big a deal to me.

Cincinnati is a perfect spot for this tool. He’ll leave the program in shambles.

Cincy has been a revolving door the past several years. Mark Dantonio (Michigan State), Brian Kelly (Notre Dame), and Butch Jones (Tennessee) are the past three coaches over the past 5 years. Tuberville must think the step down to Cincy will provide him two steps up past A&M.

There is no way he will get any respect from anyone now. He could of at least finished dinner and when they left just said something like “hey I’ll let you know if I’m interested but thanks for your time” and then just took the job the at Cincinnati the next day.

23 – No ish, Sherlock. Point of my question was to see if it was the actual dinner locale or just a play on “Texas” Tech.

Tuberville lost his OC to us and prob figured it would be hard to get another good one at Texas Tech. It prob would be easier to win in the big easy i mean big east than at texas tech.

I wonder if there is some rule or practice about no contact with recruits once you have left a job for another coaching job? Probably he was just being rude. This was pretty rude tho.

The rest of the story I read at another site was that he had just dodged a question about how long he was going to be at Tech. Sounds like he decided he just wanted to avoid the situation, but, yeah… poor job handling it.

Leach spoiled TT with the spread offense. Tubberville isn’t a spread offense type of coach. NB was forced on him.

Likely an NCAA violation if he paid for the meal after accepting job at another school (TT would allege tampering with recruits). Still rude, but if the NCAA decides a bagel with cream cheese is a meal, and a bagel w/o cream cheese is OK, then anything is possible.

@26, when my daughter was on her official visits, the schools picked up tab. Most schools just fed us at their cafeteria.

There was a reason Auburn was dying to get rid of Tubberville, he’s a 14 karrot prick. I’m glad he didn’t get the UK job. The report that UK was interested in him must have been wrong because you know he would have took the job. He’s been run out of every job he’s ever had.

If something like this happened at UK or even Ohio State or Xavier. UC fans (led by Lance McAlister) would be crawling over top of each other to take shots at em’. But, of course…they will say this report is “false” about Tubberville.
