Todd and Barnhart call 1:30 press conference

With everyone looking at that glass as half-full again this morning, the UK administration will look to capitalize on that excitement and “discuss the status of Barnhart’s contract” at a 1:30 press conference. As Matt reported earlier this week, it is believed that the meeting is to announce a new contract for the athletic director. The timing of the announcement seems a bit odd, considering Lee Todd’s status as a lame duck, but it’s widely known how highly the president thinks of his AD. Hopefully, his successor feels the same way. Looks like he’s not going to have a choice.
You have to wonder if an extension for Calipari, which Barnhart spoke of pulicly in May, is the next order of business.

Just make Cal the AD
Barnhart steps down and they have an awkward introduction for BCG again, this time as the new AD.
Have Todd drive down I-65 and look at the facilities at UL before giving an extension. Still a crappy school, but better than average facilities.
Todd wants to gunk up the works to ensure a sports minded potential prez looks elsewhere.
Is a presser really necessary for this?
ditch mitch, keep cal, ky blue AD needed…mr issel was a gm wasnt he?
Contract extensions should be talked about as they are important to the program, but what is more important right now is finding out why it feels like the friggin air conditioner is on at work while its 15 degrees outside. Wonder if I can file a workers comp claim for frost bite?
i like issel as much as any uk fan but he will not be offered an a.d. position this soon after a personal bankruptcy so please drop the talk
it’s to announce that the ncaa has reversed it’s decision on enes and he is now eligible immediately
6.Yeah he was and he was terrible. This is terrible news we will never get better facilities or a good football coach it amazing that the city school in our state is crushing our facilities. I hope we get s prez that realizes we are behind in sports facilities and makes the ad do something about it.
extend Cal ? i just don’t see this as priority 1 right now … not that i’m against it at all, but doesn’t he have another 6 yrs on this contract?
Nice photo, but I think the next AD should be a top.
Lots of chatter in other comment sections about Lamb no longer attending classes this semester in anticipation of heading to the NBA. Anyone confirm or seen him in class recently? why would Cal be playing him?
Barnhart is by far best all around ad we have had, facilities improvements and new ones not his fault. Point your finger at frankfort for the lack in facilities. Our athletic dept. is one of a few that turns over a large ammount of money to university to help lower the tuition of the students.
Any AD that is Ky blue, understands basketball and the importance of UK basketball would b better for us than mitch. Uk needs to dance with the ones what brung em…
13) I’m sure it’s just bs talk by the tards to bring us down after a big win. They tried to start that crap here on a previous thread but as long as he isn’t going out getting drunk and tazered, beatin up old men (over a hairbrush), breakin’ a girl’s spine, passed out drunk/driving at a fastfood drivethru, beating the hell out a teamate, robbing a young lady with an Uzi, Etc…. Etc…. Doron will be fine.
all we had w the newton, ivy years was scandal and the allowance of curry to keep coaching 4 years to long then give the hole kit and caboodle to mumme and his band of outlaws. Mens basketball will take care of itself, the fans will insure that. But Mitch will continue to upgrade all the programs as a whole.
If you look at the big picture, Mitch has done a good job! All facilities are better than they were when he found them. We don’t need a new football stadium. CWS is just fine, it just needs a little updating and investment. New Rupp Arena will happen but we are locked into the current one for several more years anyhow. By and large, he has brought in mostly good coaches; a few misses but it happens everywhere….look at Michigan for example. You haters of Mitch don’t seem to remember when Larry Ivy was here (CM Newton’s hand picked successor), or for that matter when Cliff Hagan was AD and he let the radio contract with WHAS run out. Basketball is vitally important, but football still pays the majority of the bills.
Hire Billy Gillispie as UK’s basketball coach, “YOU” LOSE YOUR JOB!
I think Jude likes MB.
Beisner, are there any names being talked about as the replacement for Todd?
