Junior Nick Richards scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to help lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a win over Missouri to start SEC play on Saturday. The Cats took down the Tigers 71-59. Here is the news you need to start your day:
Nick Richards impressive again
Drew Franklin has been preaching it for two years now. He has been the president of the Nick Richards’ Fan Club and has been mocked non stop. Those that did mock have no room to anymore. Junior Nick Richards is here and here to stay.
The Jamaica native accounted for his second straight double-double to help lead the Cats to the big win over Missouri.
Richards has scored in double figures in all but four of Kentucky’s games this year. Their record in those games? 1-3. It is no secret that this team needs Richards to play well against practically every other team on the schedule to have a chance. Yesterday, he showed how much progress he has made in that section.
Ashton Hagans injury scare
The biggest story of the game was the injury to Ashton Hagans. In the closing minutes, the guard came up limping after landing awkwardly. You can watch that moment here:

At first glance, fans immediately thought for the worse. After the game, John Calipari described the injury as a “low ankle sprain” and that he should expect him back in 18 hours. To say that is a sigh of relief would be the biggest understatement.
Immanuel Quickley has big game
Hidden amongst the prior two storylines was the impressive performance from Immanuel Quickley. The sophomore finished with a game-high 23 points. The two most impressive stats was that he was 4-8 from three and a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe.
I’d be the first to admit that I didn’t expect anyone coming near Tyler Herro’s free throw percentage from last season, but Quickley is knocking on the door of just that. Quickley is currently 46-48 from the free throw line for the season. Maybe the more impressive thing? Kentucky as a team is shooting 80% from that mark.
Vito Tisdale commits to Kentucky
One of the worst kept secrets officially came true as Bowling Green’s Vito Tisdale announced his commitment and signing with Kentucky. Tisdale is a four-star safety who had offers from pretty much every major program.

Note the L’s down immediately thrown up after he makes the announcement. His family is going to fit in perfectly.
Texans, Titans advance in NFL Playoffs
Drew Franklin’s team did it. The Tennessee Titans shocked the world and stunned the New England Patriots in Foxborough with a 20-13 victory over the defending champs. Their reward is a date with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens next weekend.
In the early game, the Houston Texans kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime to defeat the Bills by a score of 22-19.
