Today On KSR: 2018 National Championship game is set

The 2018 National Championship game is set and will have Villanova face off against Michigan for the title. Both team’s have cemented themselves in history for their last Championship game appearance. Villanova of course did this:

Michigan’s last appearance? Well, back in 2013, they became the only team in the history of college basketball to lose the game against no one.

Now onto the UK news you need to know to start your Easter Sunday:

Yahtzee! Four-Star Commitment for UK Football

@MosesDouglass

Yesterday, Kentucky received a commitment from four-star safety Moses Douglass. Hailing from Springfield, Ohio, Douglass is rated as a top 25 safety in the Class of 2019. His father, Maurice, played at Kentucky from 1984-86 before spending 11-years in the NFL.

Watch Douglass work below:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will announce his draft decision on Tuesday

Matt Jones learned yesterday, that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will announce his NBA Draft decision at some point Tuesday night. I wrote a piece a few weeks ago about how I thought Shai was the biggest surprise in the Calipari era at Kentucky, you can find that here.

Six months ago, we would have never believed that SGA would even be in this position, but as a projected lottery pick, I can’t imagine that he stays. Good luck to Shai in the NBA, this team wouldn’t have been the same without him.

Anthony Davis…. shaves his unibrow?!

Quite possibly the biggest news of the day came from Anthony Davis. Earlier in the week, Davis posted a video on his Twitter asking fans if he should shave his trademark unibrow. Much to my surprise, 51% of fans said that he in fact should shave the unibrow, so yesterday he took it upon himself to please the people.

I still can’t imagine that he actually did shave it. With today being April Fools Day, I am expecting some sort of video to come out as this being a big joke.

If not, this could be huge. Was it really the unibrow that brought him all the skills? The world may never know.

Billy Gillispie meets his Organ Donor

@D2Diva

It is obviously no secret that the Billy Gillispie era did not work out at Kentucky. After listening to Alan Cutler tell the story of the infamous rundown he had after the former Kentucky coach was fired, it is easy to see why he didn’t work out in Lexington.

With all that being said, our thoughts are with him everyday as his health has taken a drastic turn over the past year. Gillespie was diagnosed with Kidney Disease and put on a list for a Kidney transplant. It turns out a match was found. Here is the story of how it happened. Click HERE.

John Wall Makes his return

(AP Photo/Alex Brandon)

After missing the past two months of the season with a knee injury, John Wall returned to the court yesterday. Wall had 15 points and 14 assists in the Wizards’ win over the Hornets. It does sound like the former Cat will not play in tonight’s game against the Bulls as the Wizards try to ease him back into playing time.

Will Rick Pitino actually return to Kentucky?

Will Rick Pitino actually return to that state of Kentucky after swearing he never would? Well, Pitino is a co-owner of the horse Coach Rocks, which qualified for the Kentucky Oaks yesterday. Our own Nick Roush took a deeper look into whether a return will happen for Pitino:

UPDATE: A Horse could Bring Rick Pitino Back to Kentucky

UK Baseball falls to Alabama… close series this afternoon

UK Athletics

Through nearly seven innings, UK pitcher Zack Haake was just about as good as you can be. He threw 6.2 innings of no-hit baseball, before the wheels completely fell off in the eighth inning. Haake walked the bases loaded and then surrendered a grand slam, which turned out to be the difference in a 4-2 loss to Alabama. Check out Trey’s recap by clicking here.

The Cats will look to avoid the sweep today at 2pm down in Tuscaloosa.

UK Softball splits double-header with Alabama

@UKsoftball

Katie Reed homered and the Cats took game two of the double-header against Alabama. Game one didn’t go UK’s way as Alabama cruised to a 9-0 victory, but a bounce back effort gave Kentucky an 11-6 win to close out the night. They will look to win the series against Alabama today at 1pm at John Cropp Stadium.

    Crazy that nova, uconn, duke, and unc will all have two championships during the Kentucky cal era….dang! Let’s get number 9 in 2019!!

      Why is it crazy? I guess you’re another fan who thinks Cal should have won more titles. I guess Rupp should have won more. Joe B too. Pitinio as well. Things could be worse. You could be a Kansas fan and “enduring” the Bill Self Era.

      Why did you get upset?? I clearly stated I am hopeful for number 9 next year. Simply pointing out the fact that the analysts keeps pointing to the growing parity in basketball, yet we have only seen 5 different champs in the last 9 seasons (excluding 2013 for obvious reasons). I think cal is doing a great job. He loves these kids and I wish new potential recruits could see that. Let’s all get along. We are all BBN!

      UNC doesn’t have two in the UK Cal era. The won in the golden days of the Billy G era. Love how Billy G abuses his kidney for years only to get a new one. Hope he doesn’t ruin his new kidney too. Dudes been so blessed but doesn’t even realize it and he keeps making the same mistakes

    Yeah, I’m calling (Red)bull-shlt on AD shaving the brow. The ‘Justice League’ movie fiasco….where a $300 mil. budgeted film did a horrendous job CG-ing out Henry Cavill’s ‘stache…. was a VERY high-profile blunder, made worse by this: https://io9.gizmodo.com/a-500-pc-and-an-ai-did-a-way-better-job-erasing-henry-1822797682 . So it’s not hard to see how easy this would be to fake.

    I could give two shits about the national championship game this year. Once we lose, basketball season is over.

      Our season was over in November this year. Was very easy to see in first few games this team had no chance at a title or beating good teams. Hope most come back and new guys add something great and lets see if we have a shot next year.

    Yeah, but the Big 12 is sooooo strong!
    You know the conference that KS has won 14 titles in a row in. Oh, the same conference that’s won THREE (3) NCAA titles since 1953!!! All KS of course, because the rest of the conference is soooooo strong! The ‘hairpiece’ collapses again!

      Yea they only had 3 teams in the Elite 8, that has weak Conf written all over it. Now the power SEC had, oh wait no teams left and only 2 in sweet 16 and we were given the sweet 16 playing Davidson and Buffalo. Luckily we got a middle of the road Big 12 team {you know that Conf you call terrible} so Elite 8 will be easy, oh wait. Only 2 teams make the title game so at most only 2 Conf will be represented. KU ran into a team last night that we would have lost by 40 to. Right now Nova and Jay Wright are the “Gold Standard of college basketball”. He has really set up a nice team and mix of great veteran leadership and quality FR that will be the future leaders. Oh, he also gets athletic kids that can MAKE not just shoot. We have athletic shooters, they have athletic makers. And did you see how they move the ball on offense, amazing display of good basketball and coaching.

    Yep, you’re right callit. Let’s change the subject of my post. That powerful Big12 has 3, THREE titles since 1953!! Take a guess how many of the other teams from this powerhouse conference have even made the final four since then? It’s pathetic.
