Everyone I know is excited about this game. Beisner has sent the kids to a babysitter, Drew Franklin is locking himself in a room in Madisonville and the Turkey Hunter has even taken a night off from the fat chicks. All focus is on one thing…getting a victory that we can remember for a long time against the Gators. 23 straight losses is a statistic that is almost unfathomable, if not for the fact that it is only the second longest streak held against this UK football team. This Florida team is not the Florida teams of the last few years. They are still very good, with talent on both sides of the ball and depth that is only matched by Alabama in the Conference. But at the top, there is no Tim Tebow or Percy Harvin and most Florida writers believe that the skill players at UK on the first team may just exceed those of the Gators.
So it is time to dream. All week I have been saying “dont get your hopes up”, the “Gators are probably two touchdown favorites in reality”, etc, etc. But today isnt the time for reason. Today is the time for victory. Sit back, turn on ESPNU, try to ignore the fact that you have to listen to Mark Schlereth and cross your fingers for a victory. Now is the time we say we are going to win and we celebrate after it is over (by listening to WHAS 840 AM for the postgame call-in show for instance). The time is now to shock the world….go get em Cats!
