Thursday’s Practice Notes

Injury Report:  OG Zach West practiced some today and says that he will play Saturday. Joker seemed iffy about him but the Sophomore is determined to be on the field. The entire secondary will travel with the team, but some of them will be a game time decision. Tay Neloms has been a little sick along with battling his injury, Cartier Rice suffered a little set back on his hamstring today, but Mikie Benton has seen snaps in practice and will probably see the field.

– Reiterating what Rashawn has reported throughout the week: expect Towles and Whitlow to rotate like they did during the Miss State game between series. The only difference between now and then, is that now both QBs know more of the offense. The coaches have less limitations and will not have to build specific packages for each QB like they did against the Bulldogs.

– The running game last Saturday made dramatic improvements with Joker Phillips saying, “It all starts up front.” The offensive line set the tone early and they were able to stick with the running game longer than previous games because they were not forced to pass in order to make up a deficit.

– Saturday’s road trip to Columbia, MO is a first for the Wildcat Football program and for almost everyone involved in the program. Only 3 coaches have been there before, and in order for it to seem less strange the team will be paying an early visit to Memorial Stadium on Friday to get acquainted with the new venue.

– Don’t get your hopes to high Cats fans, Clemons WILL NOT be playing Saturday. However Clemons will be dressing and traveling with the team for the first time this year. What most fans don’t know is that if the player is on the list they get $15. When Joker was asked why he hadn’t been on the dress list before, “We’re dressing him now because he wants the 15 dollars.”

– As a final thought, I’d like to extend my gratitude to KSR readers Steve and Arlene Kendrick for returning my lost puppy Jag last week. Arlene saw the little guy wandering around Nicholasville Rd. just outside of campus and was sweet enough to take him home. After posting a picture of him on KSR, it took less than 12 hours for Arlene and Steve to contact me. It makes me proud to be a member of Big Blue Nation and more importantly a citizen of this great state, to know that my neighbor will be there for me when in need. Thanks Arlene, I don’t know what you did, but he still hasn’t made a mess in the house since we got him back.

Yes 1 and 2, some people do care. I will be at the game Saturday in Columbia and am looking forward to. Actually, I feel rather optimistic about this game.

The part about himdressing only for the $15 is crazy. That can’t be true… Surely he wants to be with histeam more than he wants the money?? It had to be taken out of context… If this is true it blows my mind.

Please tell me you guys aren’t that stupid (#4, 5)? Its a per diem, and every college athlete at pretty much every school gets it. When you go out on the road, the school will pay for your meals to account for the missed meals from your meal plan. It isn’t paying the players, relax.

Hey does anyone know whats up with Glenn Faulkner? Seems like we could really use him and I haven’t heard anything about him in a while.

The $15 bucks is legit. Surprised it isn’t more. When I ran track at UK in the 70’s, we got $15 bucks a month for laundry money.
And this post was worth suffering through just to see the happy-ending puppy story.

I don’t like the idea of Towles playing, that puts three QBs in one class. Jalen Whitlow is more than cabable of leading the offense this year.

#13 – If Towles is healthy he needs to play. Cannot claim a medical hardship if he is healthy enough to play. Needed to suffer a season ending injury in order to claim a medical hardship.

So guys help me out please, Towles is ready to play? if so great I personally think had he not got hurt we would have no less than 3 wins with a chance to make a bowl game but it is what it is. so my question is what are they going to do next year??? Max Smith had a terrific start of this year if he doesn’t go down I almost know that we would have won 6,7 games this year and were only picked to win 3. But back to the point who will be the QB at UK next year,, Max really looked good but Towels is supposed to be a lot better, and Whitlow is a great athlete but he cant compete with either of them and I hate playing 2 QB’s I dont think that will happen so what will happen?????

Thank heaven for the blue-white game last night!

Less than one month of these interviews, when this season ends and the regime changes. Joker and his staff never could recognize talent. To have Clemons for the first time is another insult to another freshman. Tunnel visioned coaches, we deserve and will get better coaches next season UK fans. Add another insult to another freshman next week Joker. And you aren’t funny Joker. I want my $50 back for the each game of this crummy season and product you have provided.

Beat down again this weekend, and the first thing Joker will say as he does every post game show to Tom Leach is we are young. Not buying the snake oil Joker. One more month.

If Towles is going to play why tell the other team, so they can prepare? UK football coaches tell the other team more of a scouting report on their team then any team I have ever seen.

Reality check no. 22. Missouri will pass every play and be successful. Another 49-0 game, only difference is it will be 4 quarters of misery. The only people not tired of being 1 and 11 is the coaching staff. Keep the same players in. The upper deck of Commonwealth is empty!
