Three Quick Late Night Notes

dsf

There is not a lot going on tonight and I cant find much to get my blood worked up. So three notes to start your morning.

(1): Tonight I called some folks in the Raleigh area and universally they all agreed that there is nothing to the John Wall to Greece rumor. Earlier today Rick Bozich, retweeted (that is what the kids call re-posting a twitter message sent by someone else) a rumor that Wall was considering heading to Greece instead of college. That got the UK nation all abuzz and folks wondered if Bozich knew something others didnt. Part of the reason for that is the issue with reporters doing blogging and tweeting (a post for another day, but basically we give reporters a great deal of credibility because they are in the newspaper world, but when they blog, they use similar standards to the everyday blogger), but also it represented a UK fan’s worry that something must go wrong. As far as I can tell however, there isnt any truth to the Wall situation at this time and the UK people believe he will be there next season. So breathe easy….at least for now.

(2): John Calipari leaves for China on Wednesday for his attempt at showing China that they should be full of givers and not takers. When not spreading inspirational words, Calipari will be continuing his three year run of making China a breeding ground for his basketball knowledge and UK/Nike love. Calipari mentioned that he would like to have a recruit from China and I was told by a member of the staff that this likely will happen “within 2-3 years.” Add to that the fact that two Chinese assistants will be part of the UK staff every year (on a rotating basis) and “Blue China” could become the new catch phrase in the basketball world. We hope to get some information during the trip to share with the fans, and I suspect folks will like the results of his attempt at Free-throw Diplomacy.

(3): Finally, something made me happy tonight. An ESPN writer put a column out about his 50 things that need to go away in sports.. #42 on the list….Billy Clyde.

More all day, including an update on the KSR Kids program (getting some paperwork done for it now), a look at the fallout of Calipari’s Memphis issue and some UK fans doing a bizarre thing. Stay tuned….
