Three future Cats reportedly named McDonald’s All-Americans

ronmcdonald

Earlier today word came out from Anthony Davis, Jr. that he had been selected to participate in the McDonald’s All-American game, scheduled for March 30th in Chicago. Now the news is flowing out that his future teammates Michael Gilchrist and Marquis Teague have also been selected for the nation’s premier all-star showcase. It’ll be the first time since 2004, with Rajon Rondo, Joe Crawford and Randolph Morris, that Kentucky will have three players on the McDonald’s team. The official word will come next week, but it’s already making for an awfully good way to kick off a big weekend in the Bluegrass.

Congrats to the future Cats and, as always, Go Big Blue.

#9 I hope not , I have lived in Louisville all my life and been a UK fan for all 45 yrs. No one, especially that arrogant turleneck wearing AD at UL is going to dictate who I can listen to or watch. What Matt says is no different than those UL homers , Deener, Lindsey and Vanetti on KARDS radio, they make fun of UK all the time. Payback is BIAATCH!!!

really 6 ? there were only 3 (Crawford, Morris, and Rondo) and with the exception of Joe C in his senior year, none of those guys lost to Louisville. An Elite 8 trip happened, and again Rondo and Morris didnt lose to Louisville. It shocks me how little the Cardinal fanbase knows sometimes. Did you know that UK had a winning record in Freedom Hall, and a winning record at Freedom Hall against the Ville ? Did you know that UL is little Brother ? Did you know that Siva will get to play against a new point guard each year when he plays UK ? Did you know that he was blocked at least 5 times himself the other day. Tubby wasnt fired either.

Knight, Lamb, Jones. We had 3 McDonalds All-Americans last year (granted they hadn’t all committed yet).

Anyways, I will have to stick up for 04 class. This is a pet peeve of mine in recent UK basketball history. It was NOT the 04 class that sent Tubby down the path of no return. It was the PATHETIC 03 and 05 classes that sandwiched that great class.

03: Bobby Perry, Lukasz Obrzut, Shagari Alleyne, Sheray Thomas
05: Jared Carter, Adam Williams, Rekalin Sims

Those two classes did not even have a single 4 star let alone 5 star recruit. The 04 class gets wrongfully condemned for the failures of UK in the 06-08 Tubby stretch, but it wasn’t their lack of talent, it was Tubby’s lack of getting even four star talent around them that could have made them special. I rest my case.

Edit: I meant the 05-06 and 06-07 Tubby stretch. He was gone after 06-07 season.

I’m still trying to post my statement on Rupp (since yesterday).

Ladies, our arena has more history than about any — save lambou field — and there’s talk of bulldozing it!?!?!?!?

Gotta wonder if people are envious of the chicken bucket’s sparkley lights, or if they worry that recruits are attracted to the same.

    We have history

    We have tradition

    We have Rupp

    We are UK

    6. Allow me to correct one fact. Tubby was NOT fired. He resigned to take the Minnesota job. It was his choice. True, there was some fans that wanted him gone, and that number was growing in the last 2 years of his era as our coach. What happened was, the AD ordered him to replace his staff. Tubby agreed to do this, but wanted to bring Saul in as an assistant. The Ad refused to allow this as it violated Kentucky’s policy against nepotism. So Tubby resigned. He could have came back, but would probably have been gone after one more season, unless Kentucky’s record showed some improvement.

the lack of talent surrounding that class was horrible. but tubby holding Rondo back and making him run a slow down offense. don’t recruit a player that strengths are run and gun for a slow down half court offense. just look what he has accomplished in the league.
