The sports schedule is starting to get a little hectic. The NFL is hitting its stride. High school football playoffs are in session. College football is in it’s last month. Basketball, high school, college and pro, is ramping up. It is getting a little crazy. Mondays are good days to plan out your week and make sure you don’t miss any of the UK-related action. Let’s get to it, shall we?
Monday Night Football – Pittsburgh at Denver – ESPN – 8:30: Cheer on UK alum Wesley Woodyard and listen to
Louisville’s future football coach Jon Gruden deliver insightful, subtle commentary in a relaxed, affable manner.
Women’s Basketball – Bellarmine at Kentucky – 7:00: This is an exhibition game and is free.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Nothing major on the schedule (other than NBA games on regional TV). Go out and enjoy the weather while it lasts.
NBA – Cleveland at Miami – TNT – 8:00: ALLRIGHT! Jamaal Magloire swatting shots and Pat Riley barking orders from the bench as Brad Daugherty and Mark Price come to town! Just seeing if you were paying attention. This match-up is all about Cal’s buddy Lebron and the guy that knocked UK out of the tournament because
he is good of Keith Bogans’ ankle. I’m still bitter. Go Cleveland.
Women’s Basketball – Boston University at Kentucky – 11:00: UK Hoops (we still calling it that?) opens the season. I know you have tickets because you think the 5 K-Fund points will finally get you that Purple Lot Pass for football. I have news for you: So does everybody else. Don’t let the tickets go to waste though. Take a half day at work and come out and support the ladies.
Men’s Basketball – Morehead State at Kentucky – ESPNU – 6:30: Wow, this really snuck up on me. You would think there would be some hype or marketing campaign to let people know that UK basketball is officially starting this week. Think we’ll be any good this year?
NBA – Atlanta at Boston – ESPN – 8:00: Randolph Morris vs. Rajon Rondo. Actually, it is more like Randolph Morris vs. Playing Time, but Rondo is always fun to watch.
Men’s Football – Kentucky at Vanderbilt – SEC Network – 12:21: What most consider the key game that will determine UK’s bowl future. We gave Vandy a win last year that put them in a bowl game for the first time since the Unabomber haunted computer labs in Nashville. I think it is time for them to do us a solid.
There you go. Nearly a full week of UK related goodness. Go Cats.
