The Twist To The Devontre Parnell Commitment

Kentucky missed out on four-star cornerback Devontre Parnell this morning and, even worse, he committed to Louisville.  Cause for concern?  Maybe not.  There are now reports online suggesting that Parnell has a torn ACL and was not as open about the injury with Kentucky’s coaches as they would have liked, so they backed away from him.  Steve Jones of Cats Illustrated seems to confirm that story.

When asked to confirm reports and comment on the speculation, Louisville AD Tom Jurich referenced Rick Pitino and Marvin Stone in suggesting that his school is like the dog waiting for scraps to fall off the Big Blue table.  You can make of that what you like.

Go Cats.

Just goes to show that even Jurich acknowledges that Little Brother will always be left to compete for leftovers after the Big blue dog has eaten.

Beisner: Let’s not refer to Marvin Stone as “scraps.” I know he ended up a filthy Card, but he also died tragically young. Let’s have a little respect at least.

As long as we can land West, we will be just fine on this one. Parnell may have been more of a pure CB at the high school level, but West is faster, and only an inch shorter.

So you’re saying UK tricked UL into to accepting a verbal from a gimp?

I noticed that the kid was only a 2-star on Scout, so there may be something to be desired as to how good he is.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah You guys have the biggest case of card-envy I have ever seen. Your scraps? Hahahahahahahah He was never on your plate to begin with!! Get a life and just be happy that basketball season, or as we refer to it, The UK developmental league” is just about to start. Big Sister, have a nice day.

Pitino is our scrap. Way to instead pick on a dead guy. Stay classy KSR, stay classy.

#6 seems like his Scout profile indicates that analysts there haven’t seen the guy play/camp yet for whatever reason. Guy is a legit player when healthy (personally saw 2 games this year). He’s prone to injury though and its well known the skittish attitude towards him in these parts by the local schools. Hope this thing isn’t just a deflection, which would be aggravating, but I think it is at least half truth.

West does sound like a very good prospect to add though. Feeling good about our DB’s thus far and hope we can add him to the mix.

Um yea #6 thats kinda what the article says. He wasn’t on our plate cuz we backed off, cuz hes a frickin gimp. But I bet he can handle a piece well, and I hear he’s a great earner. Also I hear he is really fast delivering pizzas.

#7. So, you want to be now known as “Little Sister”? And, you’re right, we will stop talking about this guy from now on. His ACL is all yours.

Let’s not always try and find a reason when a recruit does not pick our school. We will win dome and we will lose some but every kid that does not pick UK is not a criminal or something is wrong. Not saying there may not e merit to the story but let’s not make this a habit or look for excuses.

I heard Calipari knew he about the recruits injury and let Joker know! How about the Palace of Auburn Hills having a Prince and a Knight! Can’t wait, but I guess have to, to see them in action!

Why do an article about a recruit we didn’t get and go as far as showing what a torn ACL is? Personally I hope the kid recovers and has a wonderful career. You have to remember you are writing about 18 year old kids.He did nothing wrong. He chose another school over ours. He is not the first and certainly won’t be the last.

A famous excuse for uk. We stopped recruiting him so he goes to UofL. It’s ok that Louisville is on the rise again and Uk is happy going to those music city bowls. Strong > Phillips

This article is borderline embarrassing. Why is there a compulsion to immediately generate an excuse about why UK didn’t want a 4 star cornerback, immediately after he commits to UL. Let me guess, if he went Big Blue today, he would already be further along in the healing process than expected and it’s a minor setback?

sources are posting on twitter that his acl problems were 2 years ago and that he was at camp last month dominating. oh well, it was a good reason for us to be skeptical.

What a stupid article. Makes us look like simpleton, butt-hurt Cat fans. Injury was two years ago. If anything, it makes oker look silly.

According to Steve Jones of CatsIllustrated.com the injury happened in the last two weeks. Also interesting that the two in-state schools Clemson and South Carolina didn’t offer him. Oh but South Carolina did offer Jadarius West, who will likely chose UK over the weekend. Go Cats!

Listen people… People with torn acl’s often have stronger knees then they did before the surgery. Orthopedic medicine these days is so far advanced than it was 10 or
20 years ago. He’s a legit player whether he tore his acl or not.

Why wouldn’t you try and pick him up still and just red shirt the kid? He’s a 4 star prospect. I feel like we just got beat and were trying to cover it up :/
