The Tennessean’s Joe Biddle knows basketball

Either Joe Biddle of The Tennessean is Nostradamus or he is ripping off tens of people in Nashville who still read the newspaper. According to his article in the Nashville snoozepaper today, both Vanderbilt and Tennessee will need a 60-minute effort to advance in the first round of the tournament. That’s four overtimes! I’m having a hard enough time picking which team will win each game, and here’s Joe Biddle going even further by predicting two four-overtime games. Either the man is a genius or he needs to put away his typewriter for good.
Ah, newspapers. They’re so darn cute!

Not gonna say it!
If it was just the headline that was wrong … the writer doesn’t write the headline, the copy desk does. Online it says 40 minutes now in the headline, but I’m unsure if the reference to 40 minutes in the story was wrong in the print edition.
Either way it is embarassing.
apparently they’ve realized their own stupidity b/c the website now has it as “40” minutes. Was this a headline error or did he realy write about 60 minutes of basketball?
My recent post on Dana O’Neil blog
Dana,
I’m surprised that you and Forde haven’t taken your usual shots at Calipari yet since you live and breathe to post any kind of negative crap you can about him.
I can’t wait for your response.
“It is easy to post stuff about him, he cheats all the time.”
Or something along those lines.
Why don’t we talk about Porcini’s?
15 seconds of fame?
Sypher economics?
$3,000 to hold a table in Louisville?
Yeah, those topics are forbidden aren’t they?
Y’all on Thamel’s Christmas card list now?
If you zoom in, you can see he wrote “40 minutes” in the actual article. Blame goes to the copy desk. Unfortunately, it now looks like Biddle has no legitimacy in talking college basketball, even though it wasn’t his fault.
Maybe he meant to say they need to pack 60 minutes worth of effort into a 40 minute game? Even then there would be no hope…
What?
Yeah – you need to clarify. The author doesn’t write the headlines, as everyone in the media knows. I say this as someone who loves this site, but you need to clarify b/c it’s completely unfair to the actual author.
Joe Biddle has been pretty much been relegated as a joke over the past 5 or so years.
Pretty much like Rick Bozich at the Courier. Neither one of these guys could write for a good school newspaper.
#8 –Not true. A lot of writers post their own headline even before submitting their story for print.
I get my information from him
“The NCAA Selection Committee Approved this Headline”
Looks good to me…All in favor say Ahhhh….
Rebound the basketball!!!
60 minute effort,That was half a season for the Vols
hey Drew, is it 4:20?
What’s wrong with giving 150% ??
Aw, I’ve lived down here for 15 years. Nobody knows anything about basketball. They are just going by football. Give ’em a break. They are basketball morons.
Even if the headline was correct, it’s a crappy
According to the little poll on the right side of this page, we have 665 delusional fans, 9 Louisville fans, and 68 West Virginia fans who attended this site and voted.
I think he was including half-time into that number. A lot of games are won or lost during half-time, don’t you know…
Good thing I found this, I was planning on betting the under on both games!
19-This isn’t youtube. Dont make those comments here. -_-
Biddle is a “used-to-be”, and an ahole. Worked for the Nashville Banner before they went under/merged into the Tennessean, he won some writer of the year type awards years ago but he is a nobody now and has been a nobody for a long time.
The main error was leaving an ‘s’ off at the end of 60 Minute. I would expect the article to detail how Morley Safer or Bob Simon led a 60 Minutes crew into detailing the scandal that is Bruce Pearl. LOL
I’d be willing to be you $1 million he didn’t write the headline. Page designers are the ones who type them in, and the page designer likely made the error.
#24, 60 minute effort is correct.
#24 , 60 minute effort, is correct.
That’s 240 times longer than Pitino’s effort.
