The (Sunday) Morning After Links

— Dakari Johnson would like to welcome you to the Sunday morning links —

You know that feeling, right? Wake up, open your eyes, try to remember where you are and how you got there, but you can’t recall everything because it feels like there was just too much happening the night before. You do the walk of shame to your computer (or maybe you are one of those folks who sleep with their laptop). Open your browser and pop on over to KSR to realize that a tornado of UK recruiting news happened the night before, wthich explains everything.

Let’s hit those morning links for a refresher and then some:

– That guy in the picture above committed to Kentucky and Coach Calipari as part of the 2013 recruiting class. Now, everyone and their brother is getting serious about this UK recruiting class being the best of all time, including ESPN, Zagoria, NBC sports, etc.

– UK’s first commit of the likely best class of all time, Derek Willis dropped 19 last night in leading Bullitt East to a win at the Dunkin Donuts National Shootout.

BREAKING NEWS: Hockey is back! Wait…hockey was gone? Try not to fall back asleep while educating yourself on the NHL’s return.

– In a comeback victory for the Celtic, Rajon Rondo dropped a triple double last night: 14 pts, 11 reb, 10 ast.

– Remember our old pal Royce White, who was “on his way to Kentucky” but due to personal stress reasons, ended up with a temultous basketball career? Well, Royce White is getting back in shape, but chances are very high that he never reaches his dreams of playing in the NBA. Sad to see, but we wish him the best.

– Yesterday was full of football recruiting news as well: 4-Star Jaleel Hytchye commited to the Cats. James Quick chose UofL, and his high school teammate Jason Hatcher may flip from  USC.

Stay tuned for more throughout the day. I’ll be hanging out all morning, and Nick Roush will join you in the late afternoon.

that’s so sad about Royce White – a great talent. I wonder if he’s ever considered hypnosis therapy to help him. Anxiety can be crippling and so many people just blow it off … unless it affects them. I wish the young man the best.

That is a sad story. We all wish Royce and his family the best in trying to get thru this.

Good news about Willis having a good night, but don’t ignore the lad on the West Coast. Lee had 21 points and 22 rebounds. He’s second in the nation in rpg (just over 20). Between him and Johnson, the ball won’t see the floor next year.

Anxiety is crippling, I know, I had a terrible fear, BUT, it can be conquered with the right help. He needs to find professional help with someone who can help him help himself. #MindOverMatter

Any kid that would give up not only playing but getting to have the over all experience of college life at Ohio State & the sunny beautiful USC is someone who is obviously not very smart. Lets see, UL campus or Ohio State & being in warm weather surrounded by beautiful women. That’s not even mentioning the number of players OSU & USC have put in the NFL.

#10 he’ll do the same as years past with basically an 8 man rotation. C – Johnson, F- Randle / Wiggins / Gordon (whomever chooses us), F – Young, G – An. Harrison, G – Aa. Harrison. Bench – Lee, Wiltjer, Harrow. Hood and Polson don’t see the floor. Willis doesn’t see the floor his freshman year.
That’s 11 scholarships used, (10 if you move Polson back to walk on). So three of this year’s freshman could come back and we are good on scholarships. But, I’d say all four are gone (based on potential coupled with weak draft class).

I don’t see the point of ripping on hockey. One thing that infuriated me during my time in Lexington for school, was just the general reaction of “screw hockey”. Just because you don’t follow it, doesn’t mean it sucks. It’s the thought process like that how the commonwealth of Kentucky gets the reputation for being ignorant. “I don’t know anything about it, it sucks!”

Wtf is “temultous”? I feel bad for Royce, but this was a known issue going into the draft. If you weren’t prepared as a team to accommodate his illness, don’t draft him. Also, this just in, hockey sucks,

@10, dont panic, not sure but i believe cal might know what he is doing. lets see, elite eight, final four,NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, yea, pretty sure he knows what he is doing. also, i hate to say this, but, if you are worrying about polson and willis getting much plating time next year, im afraid you are in for a long season. cal will play the best seven or eight players, and he will win. as for polson, willis and the walk ons, well, they can be proud to be part of the greatest program in college basketball.

I can’t believe all of you are being so sympathetic to Royce White! What a douche! He’s using the illness-card to keep out of the D-league — like he’s too good for that! He’s refusing to play, even home games with no travel! Our own TJ & Darius are in the D-league, & that POS should suck it up & SHOW UP!
