The Son also Rises

Happier Times

“Heidi, I forgive you…and I want to forget you.” Thus spake the comely Lauren Conrad to former BFF Heidi Montag on “The Hills” after Heidi’s boyfriend spread vicious rumors about Lauren in what has become the 2nd most entertaining soap opera in the world. The title of 1st place of course belongs to Alex and his Legion of drama queens. Now comes word, from an interview in the Detroit News that Legion alledgedly never waivered in his decision to transfer and basically accuses Gillispie of perjury except that he wasn’t under oath. That’s all well and good, but the interesting point for me was that Legion confirmed he had 1 scholarship offer and it was from Notre Dame. Wait. 1 scholarship offer? Didn’t Crazy Mama Legion say the day after the transfer was reported that he had 8 scholarship offers? 8 does not equal 1, does it? Maybe she was rounding up. Either way the article also talks about what programs Legion is considering letting his mother go nuts on. Maybe Alex will learn something from this, mature, tell his Mama to wait in the car, and in the future face the world with a smile on his face while a song by Natasha Bedingfield plays in his head. At least that is my hope for him, and I wish him luck in this wacky world. “Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window, let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find, reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it, release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin”
