The SEC Is No Second Rate Conference – Complete The Hat Trick

sec

Rick Pitino can say what he wants – and who can blame him for trying to make his 15 seconds in the media last – but the fact of the matter is the SEC is no second rate league.  Sure, Pitino was talking about basketball where the SEC has struggled as of late – but even in hoops, the SEC made up 1/4 of the elite eight and 1/4 of the final four. But I get it, he’s trying to tweak a rival.  Go for it, no big deal.

But I bring this up because this is a time when the SEC as a whole should be applauded.  In the three major college sports – football, basketball and baseball – the SEC was the only league to send a team to each of those sports celebrated post season events.  In other words, the SEC was the only conference to have a team in the BCS National Championship, the Final Four, and the College World Series. As you well know, Auburn won the BCS Title, Kentucky made the trip to the final four, and the SEC makes up 3 of the 8 teams in the CWS with Florida, South Carolina and Vanderbilt all making the trip to Omaha.

A pretty cool feat for a second rate league, don’t you think?

Lets see, if I’m not mistaken, SEC has won 5 of the last 18 National Championships in basketball. The same amount as the mighty ACC with three different teams(UK,Forida, Arkansas) winning the same as the ACC.(Duke, NC, Maryland)That don’t seem to be too much of a slump to me. And by the way, in the same time period, the Big Least has produced 4 champions with only two different programs.(UCONN and Syracuse)

UL did beat UConn 2x. Otherwise how did they in any way step up in the season or post-season to allow for criticism if the SEC? Riding Calhouns coattails.

Does Pitino think that everyone forgets who he is and what he stands for? There is no one other than the “punks” at U of L that cares what he says, much less what he thinks. Pitino is a disgrace to the Commonwealth of Ky.

Really takes some strong personalities to coincidentally disagree with everything that ever happens negatively against UK. Yeah and the NCAA hates UK so they didn’t let Kanter play too right?

The SEC also had two of the final four teams in softball with Florida and Alabama. Florida finishing second to Arizona St.

Oh look, another cards fan here to protect their valiant leader! We are just disagreeing right now that the SEC is a second rate conference and we don’t just have our opinions, statistics will prove our point. Go back to your cluck bucket and pray we give you some recruitment scraps after we pick out what we want.
