The “Season That Never Stops” Just Got Back in Full Swing

Wocka wocka.

Football season got you down?  Well don’t worry, friend.  The University of Kentucky basketball season is now unofficially underway this morning as of 7 a.m. with the legal beginning of the campout for the 2012 edition of Big Blue Madness.  As you’re reading this, campers are already setting up shop in front of Memorial Coliseum on Avenue of Champions to be sure they get their free tickets for October’s finest non-Halloween festivities.

This is something that all Kentucky fans look forward to from the moment last buzzer sounds to end the previous season.  The summer months tend to drag on with their dreadful dearth of college basketball, and we have to spend our time reliving the last season and watching highlight videos on YouTube.  We had a little shorter offseason this summer, since we played all the way into April, so the waiting was less and the reliving was more fun, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been eagerly anticipating today.

In case you’re wanting to head down, and need a reminder about the specifics, check out Drew’s BBM primer from last month.  Tickets won’t actually go on sale until Saturday, but control cards will be handed out starting at 2 p.m. Friday, all the way to the time tickets are released at 7 a.m.

If you weren’t planning on camping out, you should at least stop by the campout sometime during the week to see the spectacle and hang out with fellow Cats fans.  You may even see Cal or some of the players chatting with folks in line, playing cornhole, or handing out food.  Should you make the trip, here are some things you can look forward to:

In other words, feel free to hang out at the JC courts, and be sure to bring your camera phones.

“This is something that all Kentucky fans look forward to from the moment last buzzer sounds to end the previous season.” Speak for yourself you insult to Kentucky Basketball fans everywhere. Madness is a great event and all, at least it was until Matthew Mitchell and his title 9 dorkfest showed up. But madness is not even close to the time fans look forward to. We look forward to winning games by 30, seeing the little number 1 next to our name, sportscenter highlights, running the preseason tournaments, pre Christmas non conference, beating Louisville, running through the sec, winning sec tourneys, and chasing championships. Madness is no longer an event and is on the level of dunk contests in entertainment. Oh wait there’s one of those too.

Bob, you’re either the worst troll of all time, or you have them most miserable existence of all time. Either way, no one gives a $hit what you say on here anymore.

I agree with Bob. I couldn’t give two flips about MM.

Then again, I was raised in the deep south by men that loved FB and made fun of basketball. Well, which is everywhere BUT Ky.

I agree with Bob too, madness has jumped the shark. The womens team getting out there drains all of the energy out of the arena. And the WKYT celebrities are terrible mc’s
