— We’re four hours away from Kentucky basketball’s tip-off with Morehead State and the Cats will once again be without Ryan Harrow. Calipari said earlier today that Harrow is back home in North Carolina to tend to family issues and will be out at least until Friday. We don’t know what’s going on with Harrow, but whatever it is, we wish him the best in overcoming it and getting back to his college basketball career as UK’s starting point guard.
— The line for tonight’s game currently sits at -23.5 at most books after Kentucky opened as a 22-point favorite. Think Cal will try to pile some extra points for Woods’ comments? I say no.
— Kentucky football is still without a coach, but KSR believes we’ll know something next week as to who is the leading candidate for the job. Things should start opening up once the final regular season games are played this weekend. If it’s still quiet around here this time next week, it could mean Butch Jones is the favorite. The Cincinnati head coach has two regular season games left because the Big East is weird. Get ready for the action to start picking up in the coaching search!
— After practice yesterday, Randy Sanders said Max Smith will be Kentucky’s quarterback next season. Today, Joker Phillips said the same thing. Patrick Towles, however, told reporters it’ll be up to the next staff to pick a starter. I don’t see any way Towles leaps Smith unless he has an incredible offseason. This is Max Smith’s team for the next two years.
— It’s sad day that Joker Phillips has stopped wearing UK gear to media opportunities. “I was going to come out today with a sign that says FOR RENT,” he said today. He plans to give away most of his UK clothes to family members this Thanksgiving.
— In college basketball news, Deadspin called Jake Taylor’s 138 points a “sham.” I agree. It’s a complete bastardization of basketball, like Deadspin says.
— Has Indiana pretended commemorative t-shirts for the Progressive Legends Classic championship yet? Save me an XL.
— Matt and Ryan The Elf were live from St. Matthews Mall for this morning’s radio show. Have a listen as the two talk Cats while hanging out with a Big Blue Santa Claus…
