— We’re four hours away from Kentucky basketball’s tip-off with Morehead State and the Cats will once again be without Ryan Harrow.  Calipari said earlier today that Harrow is back home in North Carolina to tend to family issues and will be out at least until Friday.  We don’t know what’s going on with Harrow, but whatever it is, we wish him the best in overcoming it and getting back to his college basketball career as UK’s starting point guard.

— The line for tonight’s game currently sits at -23.5 at most books after Kentucky opened as a 22-point favorite.  Think Cal will try to pile some extra points for Woods’ comments?  I say no.

— Kentucky football is still without a coach, but KSR believes we’ll know something next week as to who is the leading candidate for the job.  Things should start opening up once the final regular season games are played this weekend.  If it’s still quiet around here this time next week, it could mean Butch Jones is the favorite.  The Cincinnati head coach has two regular season games left because the Big East is weird.  Get ready for the action to start picking up in the coaching search!

— After practice yesterday, Randy Sanders said Max Smith will be Kentucky’s quarterback next season.  Today, Joker Phillips said the same thing.  Patrick Towles, however, told reporters it’ll be up to the next staff to pick a starter.  I don’t see any way Towles leaps Smith unless he has an incredible offseason.  This is Max Smith’s team for the next two years.

— It’s sad day that Joker Phillips has stopped wearing UK gear to media opportunities.  “I was going to come out today with a sign that says FOR RENT,” he said today.  He plans to give away most of his UK clothes to family members this Thanksgiving.

— In college basketball news, Deadspin called Jake Taylor’s 138 points a “sham.”  I agree.  It’s a complete bastardization of basketball, like Deadspin says.

— Has Indiana pretended commemorative t-shirts for the Progressive Legends Classic championship yet?  Save me an XL.

— Matt and Ryan The Elf were live from St. Matthews Mall for this morning’s radio show. Have a listen as the two talk Cats while hanging out with a Big Blue Santa Claus…

This Harrow situation is a joke. Cal owes us a real answer.

Let the next coach decide who is the starting qb is next season!! Not coaches that are fired.

UK is still paying Joker. Nike money is still paying Joker. Suspect he is still driving his Paul Miller Ford. Fulfill your commitments Joker. Wear the official gear.

Harrow will be a non-factor this year me thinks. Same issues at NC ST. No proof and none of my business, but manic depressant I believe. Need Archie at the point more than ever.

Same coaches that couldn’t decide between Smith and Newton. Let’s wait for the new coach to decide his starter.

Drew Quote: ” This is Max Smith’s team for the next two years.”

Why on earth would you want to state something like it’s a fact when it’s pure speculation.

We’re talking about something a year away. If I’m not mistaken Mr. Maxwell Smith had some fragility problems this season. I guess that should be overlooked when agenda’s are more important.

What I’m asking is “Why On Earth” is it important to spread that kind of FUD?

2, There are laws that protect Harrow’s privacy unless he allows the information to be released, you know. Why does anyone “owe” you the private medical information of a college kid?

If Smith does win it, then Towles will leave, I dont care what he says. He is not goin to play behind Max his whole career. Would be nice if his family could get his redshirt back by declaring the coaches were reckless in their decision and obviously not competent due to the fact they have officially been canned.

A sham! A sham, I say! Everyone knows there are certain things that are part of basketball, things like good sportsmanship (no one flops, no one denies fouling). No player should be selfish. No player should be lazy. No player should do anything we almighty fans look down upon.

For instance, no player should leave school early. It’s a sham!

His teammates got him the ball and he set a record. He averages like 20 a game, which isn’t a big deal. When a teammate is hot, get him the ball, even if he’s missing half of his shots.

  12. Because It Could Be Contagious?

Uh, I think the public deserves to know what someone is sick with, if that kid is playing sports with other peoples’ kids, and is interacting
with fans and their children. Don’t you? The secrecy about this is extremely quizzical. I would assume the University would NOT put
other people in danger with a contagious illness, but THIS IS KENTUCKY. What was that about not being able to hide? Sorry, but when
you become a basketball player here, some of those “rights to privacy” y’alluh talking about, are necessarily different. People are gonna
wanna know, and someone is gonna find out. If it was a bad case of mono, just say so. Cause if you don’t, it’s gonna be AIDS, Tuberculosis
and the Bubonic Plague. Welcome to Kentucky.

108 shots by a lousy player playing even worse players doesn’t equal a RECORD. It is pathetic.

Harrow is from Marietta, Georgia so why would he go “home” to North Carolina? It’s a joke that a KSR blogger doesn’t know something that can be learned from a simple google search.

OMG! We have the possibility to be getting Butch Jones, the coach at UC that has been ripping the Big East a new one, I can’t wait to see him work his magic in the SEC, we could possibly have another Saban here folks, here’s to you Mitch for all you give and provide this great football program we have.

    12. So if someone has something that is contagious like herpes, mono, etc the public deserves to know? You clearly don’t know anything about privacy laws. And if Harrow isn’t making out or banging someone on the court there is no issue with it being “contagious.”

    whats wrong.

I think its funny how Drew and especially Matt blast UL media for not coming out and saying things about Behanan, but Matt is doing the same w this situation. Matt and Drew know they just wont say cause they are afraid of losing their little connections to Cal and UK Athletics. Matt is a hypocrite at its finest when he does the same thing as UL media

This is moment of truth time for Towles. If he can’t beat out Max Smith, how is he going to transfer to somewhere else that’s good and start? We’re at the bottom of the totem pole. The only options are stay and fight for the job or go to the FCS.

Know someone who plays on Grinnell. The coach definitely tells the players who is scoring all the points tonight when they are playing bad teams.

Drew, how can you say Smith will be the QB the next two years? Both of his two seasons he has had season ending injuries. He’s injury prone. The 2 candidates are Towles and Whitlow. Max is good but he his limited throwing wise and injury wise. So making that statement is a little premature isn’t it? Just saying…

The Joker statement is not real, correct? If it is he has really shown his ass. Mitch should tell him to keep him and his UK gear at home this weekend. Really shows an immaturity on his part and sets a terrible example for the men he’s supposed to be leading.

Id be willing to bet he is Charlie Strong’s Offensive Coordinator next season. Now KSR, will he still be “true blue” in your eyes. Im sick of this Joker is “true blue” $h!t, hes a HORRIBLE coach, that had an affair with a TV reporter, that drove our mediocre program into the ground. I dont care who the next coach is, I am not sad Joker had to stop wearing UK gear, its actually a year too late.

Agree with 30. WHEN will we stop hiring friends and relatives??? Sounds like sour grapes with Joker who was the luckiest guy in KY for the past two years to have been honored with screwing up a program that had been to multiple consecutive bowl games before he shamelessly ended that streak. Zero gratitude or too dense to understand how BAD he performed over two years!!!

Believe we may have seen the end of Harrow at UK. He is a troubled young man and my guess is that his mother coming for him will be the last we will see of him at UK. Too bad but I doubt that he is tough enough to take the criticism by Cal and we will simply have to play without him this year…………..
