The replacement refs want you to listen to KSR (Tuesday Show Thread)

Looking for a sports show that won’t be talking about the replacement refs today? It won’t be easy. I’m afraid the replacement refs have taken over everything after last night’s debacle. But, Matt Jones and the gang will be talking about another football disappointment this morning, if you’re interested: Kentucky football.

A name that continues to be overlooked is Phil Fulmer. He will at least be interviewed (Mitch was with him @ UT) & if he can can get John Chavis to rejoin his staff, I think he would have a VERY good shot. 152-52 record as a head coach would probably be better than any other coach we will interview PLUS HE IS INCREDIBLE AT RAISING MONEY.

It’s fans like Chester that have allowed the football program to sink over the years. Enablers. These football-only UK fans that go around with this “we can win every game if the fans would cheer better” mentality are killing the football at UK. Delusional bunch of butt-wipes.

People were waiting for these replacement refs to cost a team a game. I think it was the perfect storm. IT’s the Packers, it’s Monday Night, and it was one of the craziest ends of a game ever. Objectively, I think the call was fine. Some of those Pass Interference calls were much worse (one on both teams). I think people are overreacting in the most extreme way possible, including the analysts. Jon Gruden was hilarious with his pouting last night.

It was not even close. The defender got to the ball and intercepted it. The WR grabbed it on the way down. Not to mention guys, there was an offensive pass interference on the play. If the OPI was called, this would not be an issue.

If there was one knock on Tressel Matt is that there was no fire, no emotion and he played the most boring, conservative brand of football EVER. Tressel will be the same “joker phillips personality” and same boring “joker phillips offense” with a new, “big name”.

When you read the rule regarding simultaneous receptions and you still say there’s no doubt it was in interception, you are not being objective. The ball was more controlled by the defender, Jennings, but the receivers entire arm was under the ball, also giving him semi-control of the ball. No way you can say that was conclusive. People are jumping the gun because they want to wave their pitchforks and torches and be mad at something.

The final play of the game last night was absolutely ridiculous. Tate shoved a Packers DB and still couldn’t make the catch. Jennings had possession and the ball on his chest. Game over, Green Bay. Then, the referees look at each other and make two totally different calls. The photo of the referee signaling a touchback and the other signaling a TD will live in infamy. As a huge football fan and GB fan, I am disappointed the owners cannot settle the lockout with the refs.

    49) Jennings AND Tate both had possession. You could say that Jennings was more in control. That’s fair. But you can’t say that Tate had NO control of it. Both of their hands made contact with the ball at the same time. Both had at least partial control of the ball, therefore the rule of simultaneous reception gives the ball to the receiver.

Chances of getting Petrino if there is a change: decent. Kentucky fans saw firsthand what he did at Louisville and many of them would love to have that offensive mind on their side. And if it’s a question of taking on a coach with baggage, well, the school hired John Calipari, didn’t it?

I understand fans going nuts. The offensive PI right before the catch was pretty blatant. Be outraged about that, but once that gets overlooked, the call on the catch is acceptable.

The vast majority is ready for the regular refs to get back to the NFL. The majority have a stake in that games’ outcome (fans, gamblers, jounalists/analysts, rival teams fans, etc.)

We’ve all heard the talk around the country in the first 3 weeks that kept repeating, “when these refs cost someone a game, the league will get a deal worked out.” The majority is jumping the gun because they want their old refs back. Let me be clear that I honestly don’t care if the old refs ever come back. I think these guys are doing fine and they’ll get better. I think it’s pretty hypocritical of people to all of a sudden think the old refs were perfect despite complaining every single week about every single game played. Even if you believe they blew it, can you say difinitively the old refs would have done anything different?

280- That may or may not be true, my reason for posting it was that despite the baggage Petrino carries, he runs a tight ship and accountability and precision are major priorities. I think our football program could use an infusion of that type of attitude. Now there’s also the question about whether he’ll be able to command the same respect now, but I think he would. At least among his players.

296- You’re reaching. Bottom line, Vandy will beat us this year B/c Franklin has accomplished more in 2 years with less than Joker has accomplished with more to work with in 3 years.
