This past week I was revisiting the early days of KSR in a peyote-induced haze, and just before I tried to light myself on fire I thought to myself “we’ve had a lot of fun here over the years.” Then I lit myself on fire. And as I currently rest quietly in a hospital ward as I wait for my burns to heal, I find myself once again reflective upon the early days of Kentucky Sports Radio. And this very column, which has for lo these many years tirelessly attempted to consistently “waste ten minutes of your life that you’ll never get back,” “not be as good as something else,” and remain “meh.”
As we all wait with baited breath for recruiting news to trickle in, I thought that it might be fun to take a look back at some of the best short pieces featured in NTKW over the past five years. For some of you this may take you back to a simpler time, and for those of you newer to the KSR universe, this stuff may be new to you.
Let’s start with the beautiful songstress Jan Terri, whose hit single “Losing You” made it all the way up to number three on the KSR Adult Contemporary charts back in 2007. If your heart doesn’t melt at this, you just aren’t able to feel emotion. If your eyes melt, don’t worry — that’s natural.
Next is a personal favorite of mine, a short film I loving like to refer to as “two drunk foreign men try to load a log onto a bicycle.” Please to enjoy.
I can say a lot of things about my good friend Bas Rutten, but one thing I can’t say is that he is not able to defend himself in his local Applebee’s.
And finally, as always, it’s just like a mini-mall.
Good times…hope this is adequate distraction for your Wednesday, friends. Until next week.
