The Morning After Sunday Links

Well I can’t decide who is having a worse morning, the gentleman above or our Kentucky Wildcats football team. Both should be waking up feeling violated and disgraced. At least the guy above probably didn’t have that happen to him in his own house. He had to go on the road to get embarrassed. Well hopefully some Sunday morning links will help to ease the pain of last night’s loss:

-In case you want to relive the tragedy here are some recaps of the game: The AP breaks it down over on ESPN, then get a local look at the game from the Courier-Journal, and follow it up with a look at the win from Western’s perspective.

-John Clay takes a look at just how far the program has fallen. Joker’s seat really has gone from hot to blistering.

-One complaint often said about our team is that we often look like we are playing to not lose, rather than playing to win. Last night the players of Western wanted to win. The players convinced Willie Taggart to go with the trick play they had just installed in practice. Clearly it paid off.

-Joker gave his thoughts following the game and Kyle Tucker transcribe the whole thing.

-With losses to both Lousiville and now Western it’s hard to argue that in football we’re in a Red State. At least basketball is less than a month away…

-Speaking of basketball, the alumni gave was the highlight of the day yesterday. CoachCal.com has a photo gallery of the entire event.

-In another incredible display of generosity under the Cal era the game raised over 300,000 for charity.

-And a look from outside of sports as they have a write-up on Drake balling so hard.

Is KSR still going to support this clown or can we move on now?

Joker has clearly run out of excuses. “We’re playing a lot of young kids”. Well whose fault is it that we have no upperclassmen? Plus shouldn’t our Freshmen and Sophomores be better than whatever WKU puts on the field? I think they are actually, but the coaches can’t seem to put them in a position to succeed. Bring in a coach that can take these talented kids and win with them.

Two plays sums up this to me. First uk goes for it on 4th and 1 early in the game and passes the ball. You are an sec team line up and run the ball straight up the middle for a yard. Coaches must trust in the running game at all. But the big one to me even though they scored a td on the drive was the delay of game penalty to start the ot. How does that happen. #isitbasketballseasonyet

While everyone here wishes it wasn’t true, UK football sucks. It usually has in the past and it probably will in the future. Get rid of Joker. The affirmative action experiment failed and it is time to move on.

At least we’re in a basketball state? You do realize by making that comment that you’re basically telling the administration that it’s alright to be bad at football, don’t you? “Don’t worry about it Mitch, basketball will distract us from being the laughing stock of the SEC, at least in our own minds.”

I hope last night’s game does one thing…force the writers on this site to take off the blue colored glasses that were given them by their boss and begin doing some REAL reporting / analysis and not just regurgitating what Joker, Sanders , Minter and others tell you. It’s OK to be fans but be REALISTIC fans. A guy might wish his wife looked like Kate Upton. Chances are are real good that she doesn’t. He still loves her and in his eyes she’s beautiful but don’t try to convince everyone else of it. He just comes off looking like an idiot.

All the young writer ‘football experts’ on KSR would do well listening to what some of the commenters on this site have to say. Many of us have been saying since before the season that this team was going to be challenged, that Joker had no business being head coach and some of the staff was suspect. I thought most of us who predicted 4 wins out of this bunch was overly optimistic yet there was KSR talking about bowl games etc. Just nonsense. We MIGHT make 3 wins this season. Somewhere along the line, our frustration level or the fact that no one in the SEC will take us real seriously could translate into an unexpected win. But 3 wins is about as high as the temperature gauge will rise on this squad.

In all fairness, I think Matt Jones is hampered some and not completely able to express his true feelings. The reason is that he has become too friendly with the athletic department. That’s where reporters get into trouble…when they start sleeping with the people they are reporting on. When you reach a point where the people you are reporting on become your friends, it is practically impossible to be objective, and you risk losing your credibility at the same time. This is happening with KSR as it pertains to KY football.

Go ahead and write the way you want, its your blog, but recognize that there are a hell of a lot of readers out here who can easily see what’s going on and have known for a long time how this season would turn out.

I hate it, but congrats Hilltoppers. SanDiego, you are a racist, so shut up. Lots of Louisville players defected to Western since Hurtt has been recruiting Miami boys, so I knew Western had a chance to beat us. Even though Mitch said it’s not going to happen, I think he owes us fans one for hiring Billy Clyde and should hire Petrino. I know, but as morally bankrupt as Pitino is, he remains idolized by Louisville fans, community leaders and the school administration. We will never find another man like Coach Phillips who is from Kentucky, dramed of, attended and played for Kentucky and loves Kentucky. Look at Papa Brooks, always tweeting about Oregon, blah, blah. And we should leave the SEC, we will never compete in football and yet our basketball program is helping fund the SEC.

Well….I’ve attended both WKU and UK. I love them both but have always bled for the Blue. Blob….congrats on the victory, but give it a rest. Joker absolutely MUST go and a real nationwide search with money behind it needs to go down for our football program. For God’s sake we are in the SEC and we can NOT hang with football? If we can’t improve our Football program we should move to the ACC…..

Times are tough, and it’s entirely possible that we don’t win another game,,,maybe 1 the rest of the year. Joker was never the answer, I’m all in on that one. But why all the hype calling for Mitch to be fired? I mean geez, yea the football sucks right now, but every other sport is flourishing. Be careful when you ask for change, you just might get what you ask for. Anyway, I can’t imagine Joker will last thru the season, as we are in for some Embarrasing Loses in weeks to come. I’m affraid these kids will be scared for life.

Our offense lines up and runs the play clock down to 15 seconds. Everyone then stands up and looks over their shoulders at the sideline. Coach says or signals something. Players get back into sets and play clock runs down to 3…2…1… then we snap the ball and throw an incomplete pass. WKU’s defense never looked off guard, surprised, or out of position. Is this the high-powered and tactical offense that Joker and Sanders (aka Joker2) have promised for some time? It’s woeful to watch and even more woeful in its execution.

Riddle me this: Our defense is very poor, correct? Why do we run a no huddle offense, go 3 and out in under a minute, and put our pathetic defense back on the field before they can even realize what just happened? Poor coaching, we need to keep our offense on the field as. long. as. possible. HUDDLE!!!!

I don’t mean to go all starry eyed and its not just cause they beat us, but does anyone else think taggert should be our next coach? That is if he would come. he does coach at a better football program. He’s done a helluva job with a team that just joined d-1 three years ago.
