No one handles a coaching search quite like Kentucky fans. With news that Bobby Petrino may be interested in the Kentucky job, fans are scouring Lexington for Petrino sightings, harkening back to our past coaching searches’ rumored horse farm purchases, private jet tracking numbers, “done deals,” and the infamous “Door” (long live Les Smith!).

Guys, this is no lie, I attended a seminar in Lexington last night on ‘How to Deal With Difficult People’, and Mitch, Dwayne Peevey, and Sandy Bell were ALL in attendance.
Rumor is that he is in Vinnie Tatum’s ride w/ Karen Scypher crusing UK’s campus.

To all those who think Kentucky fans (and fans of this site) only care about basketball, I find it interesting that the day before the tip off of the basketball season, with a team ranked in the top three, the two posts on this site with the most comments I’ve seen in a while (maybe ever) are the two Petrino posts, currently with 313 and 314 comments. I think that says (a) this fan base is interested in its football team and (b) Petrino is a name that moves the needle. Hire him now and put a big buy-out clause in the contract.
If we do not hire Petrino we are out of our mind. A year ago he was the hottest coach on the planet. So what, he slept with an intern and got caught. We are not hiring for a Bible College. We are hiring to win football games. Go get him now!!!
KSR is becoming more agenda driven than MSNBC. I’m starting to lose respect for this site. Here we stand with an opportunity to land the best available coach in the country, and KSR continues to ridiclue Bobby Petrino.

26, 31, if by reading these comments you think that its not making fun of Bobby Petrino than I don’t know what to tell you. KSR is obviously against the idea. Nothing positive to date on the possibility.
You guys at KSR are not helping matters. We as fans are trying to let the UK higher ups know how strongly we want to win and that Bobby Petrino is the answer. We want to win and I think this is a unique chance for a bad program to get a proven coach. We may never have this chance again and now who ever else Barnhart brings in will have the shadow of “what if he’d hired Petrino?” if he doesn’t win quickly. Start preaching it brothers and help make it happen! Think how many listeners and on line hits you’d get during football if we were worth a crap.

I cant figure out what the big rush is for a football coach? We have been average for about 50 years now, and i am tired of it to but i wouldnt just jump on Petrino right out of the gate…. i worry that if we hire him and he wins 6-7 games next year some big program is going to say look at what he has done with UK lets go get him and he is going to leave and we are going to be left with nothing.. go young and go for the longrun….. i can take losing for a couple of more years if pays off hell after 33 years im kind of used to it.

I could care less about Petrino’s baggage. He is one of the very few coaches who could turn Kentucky Football into a winner.
Kentucky is in need of drastic changes. A Petrino hire at this time is exactly that drastic hire.
And it will more than likely give Kentucky Football the edge it’s been seeking since Bear Bryant left.
I just saw him at Wheeler’s Drug Store talking to Joe B. about using two Fullbacks at the same time. He later left on a Harley. I think we can do a lot better.

Petrino is a snake and he’s left every program where he’s ever been in worse shape. If he’s hired…I’ll continue to follow basketball, but I’ll hand in my BBN card for football.
