The first pick in the NBA Draft goes to…the Cleveland Cavaliers

nerlens-cav

The NBA Draft lottery just wrapped up and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been awarded the number one pick. Most analysts, including ESPN’s Chad Ford, say the Cavs will select Nerlens Noel, who spoke to ESPN after the lottery concluded. Noel said that he thinks his game definitely translates well to the Cavs, and that once he returns to the court, his shot blocking ability will have an immediate impact on the Cav’s defense. He said he liked the idea of playing with Kyrie Irving, and as many people have mentioned, there is the possibility that LeBron James could return to Cleveland in two years, making the team an legitimate title contender.

Better stock up on some more knit caps, Nerlens. I hear it’s cold up there.

That may be the best fit Nerlens could have asked for. I would love to have seen him teaming with John Wall or Kidd-Gilchrist, but with Kyrie and waiters becoming great scorers (especially Kyrie) Nerlens can have time to work on his offense while helpin the team win defensively.

LeBron would go back to Cleveland for a few reasons. 1) He’d get the chance to play with Kyrie Irving. 2) He wants to go back home and “rewrite his wrong” so to speak, and win Cleveland a title. 3) The Heat aren’t getting any younger — Dwyane Wade will turn 33 during the 2014-15 season.

Great fit for Noel. His poor offense won’t be nearly the negative with Cleveland building a solid perimeter offense, and he’ll help ease the Irving’s defensive..er…issues.

The big factor for Noel will be putting on weight and lots of it. If he’s not on a major high calorie/weight training program right now, someone isn’t giving him the right guidance. His defense will not translate to the NBA if he barely weighs over 200 lbs.

#9 BronBron. Agree with all, except Lebron will decide whether or not he’ll play with Irving.

I think there is a real possibility King James will try to give Cleveland a championship, but Kyrie won’t be the necessary ingredient. Don’t think it will work that way.

Lebron’s not going back as long as Gilbert is there, people.

And the fans weren’t too understanding when he left, “The Decision” or otherwise.

    10) Kinda not wise to be on a high calorie diet when he can’t do cardio yet…

#10, Noel would not want to put on a bunch of weight right now. Additional weight on a bum knee? Recipe for disaster. Once he’s fully healed and able to cut and twist – then I’m sure he’ll be on an 8000 calorie diet and live in the weight room.

I don’t understand why you take a player who cannot help you get out of the lottery again next year. If I had the top pick, I would want to get someone who can help me next year. Noel is not going to be able to help get them into the playoffs next year. So you have a two year plan?

#19 Why not? You actually gave a a pretty good case for taking Noel…. 2 years isn’t a long time to wait to become a contender.

I don’t like the Cavs but it would be a great fit for Noel. The Cavs won’t be able to get much in the way of a trade for this years draft. And there is no trade that will make the difference they’d need to make the playoffs next season. They would be wise to take him.

Funny how people are sure Lebron won’t go back to Cleveland. He’s a man and a professional and isn’t gonna let petty fans burning his jersey or things said in anger prevent him from doing something he might want to do. A chance to redeem himself in his hometown and even win a Championship for them. Wade is getting old and if they win a Championship this season and fall short next season he may well consider it. Plus the Cavs will be a very solid team by then.

    17. It’s not the fact that he can’t do cardio, it’s that he cant lift heavy. If you eat a ton plus run a ton, you’re just gonna even out. Nerlens needs to eat like a horse and do some heavy squats to build some lower body mass. doesn’t need to burn calories with too much cardio.

    23) cleveland will not take Otto Porter #1 overall. Would have taken him with #3 though.

cleveland will take Noel or trade. one trade possibility is #1 pick and Varejo for Kevin Love.
