The Definition of an Old-School Fan

uspw_5865980

A very cool image last night from Kansas’ game with Kansas State in Lawrence. A 104 year old Kansas fan made the trip to watch the game and got a lot of attention from the tv cameras and media in attendance. I do not know of a similar aged UK fan who still follows the Cats, but I am sure that someone else does. Either way, it is nice to see a college basketball fan who is able to remember all the way back to Robbie Hummel’s Freshman year.

This is awesome. It was somewhat of a dream of mine to get my great grandmother into Rupp at some point before she passed, but it never happened. She was a DIE HARD Kentucky fan. Watched every game and clapped at the TV every time the Cats made a shot. She passed away at the age of 100 a couple years ago. Think about her every time the Cats take the floor.

I actually have a great aunt who turned 108 years old last November and doesn’t miss a game. She’s in an assisted living home and kicks everyone else off the big screen any time UK comes on t.v. Here’s the article from her 107th birthday that was broadcast by local news. You’ll have to copy and paste into your browser.

#44, that is very neat! She sounds like a wonderful person and it is always a blessing to be able to spend so many years with someone like that. I hope she gets to cheer on many more Cats games! She is a testament to how dedicated the BBN truly is. We do not exaggerate when we say someone is a life-long fan!
