We’re gonna have to move Tyler Brause and Bookie back to QB before the season is over. I’m guessing that by the UT game, we’ll be running the zone read again like last year with a WR or RB. LaRod King was a high school QB, maybe he’s next.

I think ratings are lower in Sept. and Oct. because other media outlets are reporting more on Basketball. During the summer months you have no competition. Fans have only one place to get free access to good info. Now fans can get their fix (albeit lower quality info.) from local tv, the herald (puke), or the journal.

I think all the injuries that we’ve had since Joker has taken over has to point to their training. I know freak things happen and sometimes they happen more often than other seasons BUT it seems like it has happened more often since Joker has taken over. At some point it goes away from random luck to there has to be something they are doing that is not preparing our players for the rigors of SEC play.

The argument to bring him back is ONLY viable if you can Minter and the defense that is swiss cheese and I truly think it’s time to let Randy Sanders go and get a OC that will open the field up…but that all depends on Joker too. So I think this is why Joker will be let go…you can’t bring in coordinators for 1 season.

I hope that people don’t put too much pressure on Towles. Like Matt said, he made a fantastic drive for a score, but you can’t just assume he’s always gonna do that. So if Jalen Whitlow got hurt immediately after that 98 yard scoring drive againsta better S.Carolina defense, do we rally for him the same way. There has to be some reason he was the #4 QB. He threw 4 short passes, and a TD pass to a wide open King who had a defender fall down. Lets calm down and see who wins out next year.

Recruiting classes consisting of Bobby Perry, Sheray Thomas, and Shagari and him not developing any of them. If tubby was gonna recruit 3 star players he HAS to be able to develop them and never did. Tubby was the coach, was there at practice every day, and was the one who made the decision to let the players make certain decisions. As a coach, he didn’t have to do that but he realized it was the best for his team and he deserves credit for making that decision. A lot of coaches wouldn’t do such a thing. That team wasn’t so dominant that anybody would win with ’em. Give Tubby credit for getting the job done.

He has a nice setup, you think you can do a show from there? It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a nice patio. It could use a new roof but, it will be okay. Joe B. Towles didn’t look good, average at best. The receivers took the ball off the top of their shoes a few times. The TD was waaay underthrown and we were lucky that King’s guy fell. It was basically a fair catch. From what I saw on 5 or 6 throws, Smith is more accurate.

MAtt I get what you are saying… BUT it was the simple passes that Towles made… like there was a bootleg out and Towles hit a crossing route and fit it inbetween the LB, Safety and DB perfectly… Newton throws an INT, Whitlow puts too much umph on the pass, and Smith prolly throws a pic. Towles skill set is much much higher than any other QB on the team when it comes to a drop back passer.

  314. MattD
    11:29 am October 9, 2012 Permalink

Matt, here is my knock of Max Smith. He does not have the ability to throw the ball down field accurately. He looks first to slant routes over the middle, or dump offs. He is unwilling or unable to stretch the defense. From Towles first drive you saw that he looked to throw the ball 10 to 20 yards downfield. The fact that Towles looks downfield and has confidence to throw that ball is enough for me to want him at QB. Max is a serviceable QB, but he has not impressed me with his passing ability. In fact, I believe there was an article on KSR about our passing attacking being “fool’s gold.” Smith’s passes are essentially extended run plays, at least, many of them are. So yes, from one drive, I’m ready to anoint Towles our starter.

Uh, yeah, there has NOT been a complete transition/transformation under Joker. THAT’S THE REASON HE WAS NAMED HCIW–FOR CONTINUITY! Geez, this program has nosedived in the 3 years he’s been here–why can’t people see what’s right in front of their face?

I was there dumpster diving! I have a whole bundle of wood. I’ve made picture frames and writing pens from the wood to give away as gifts.

Aaron Rodgers had ZERO division 1 offers coming out of HS and wasnt even highly touted when he transferred from juco to Cal. Like Matt says a lot, HS rankings for football just arent the same as basketball. Players can improve more in football after HS then they do in bball.

Matt, the reason Ryan will only pay 50 bucks is because he has no room on the wall after his wife put up the autographed Saul Smith jersey

At least 4 SEC head coaches are in their first job – Dan Mullen, Will Muschamp, James Franklin, and Joker Phillips.

How about looking at success with Head Coach in waiting instead of coaches that didn’t do well in the first few years and then turned it around? How often has HCIW worked out??

Ryan, we have to wait for the next 2 weeks to see about SC. At LSU this week and at FL next week. They win both of them, then I’ll believe they are for real.
