The BCS Era is Officially Over… In 616 Days

In great news for college football fans, the NCAA is going forward with its college football playoff system, giving teams the fairness inherent in such a showdown, while simultaneously providing entertainment for the football-hungry masses. So what did they decide to name the greatest thing to happen to football since the facemask? Something cool like “March Madness,” right?
Maybe “Foosball Extravaganza?” “Most Extreme Elimination Football?” “Gridiron Chef?”
Erm, no. The creative geniuses settled on “College Football Playoff.” It’s not very exciting, but at least it’s progress, right? And speaking of progress, whoever is in charge of these sorts of things has decided to leave the fate of the logo to the people, which may or may not have been a good idea. Hopefully this won’t turn out like that Mountain Dew experiment. But if you’re into voting online for things that don’t pertain to UK (at least, not yet), you can participate at CollegeFootballPlayoff.com. I’m not going to hyperlink that, because if you’re too lazy to type in “collegefootballplayoff.com,” then maybe you don’t care enough about the logo. Not that I blame you. it’s gonna take more than just an uncreative, gaudy new football phrase to get people in Kentucky excited.
As if “Operation: Win” didn’t already teach us that.

Dumb post again
Very compelling post! Bravo!
Guys, you’ll have to tell me, because I don’t see it. What is so bad about this post?
Listen to Mike and Mike, much? Lame post…
Well at least it wasn’t a rehash of earlier posts like most of Corey’s posts seem to be. B+ for the effort to post something new.
@3, I’m with you. I don’t get to listen to Mike and Mike “much”. Corey has laid some turds before, but this doesn’t seem to be one of them. It’s 9 a.m in the off season on a free site. Stifle your expectations a little.

Okay, I have to say it. Why does it matter if you don’t like the post? Why do you feel the need to bring somebody down? It’s become like schoolyard bullying only it’s BBN vs. BBN. If you don’t like what he posts show some class and keep it to yourself, otherwise take it somewhere else. I’m tired of our fan base looking like ignorant immature kids.
9 – Now where is that darn “LIKE” Button…
That is what this site needs… a Comment Like button and a Dumbarse button.
So, can we go back to calling teams Division I and Division II. Or do we go back to Division I A and Dvison I AA. Or is it still bowl sub-divisions? Too complicated. I’d rather just watch first round March Madnss games, which are atually called second round match-ups, because the term “Play-in” game might hurt some teams feelings. Well done NCAA.
Man, wouldn’t it be wild if the Cats were in that playoff?
Anthony Davis took the fifth most shots
This is like smearing make up on a pig. If they wanted a true playoff they would have at least 8 teams. Maybe 5 bids going to PAC12, BIG10, BIG12, SEC and ACC with 3 at large. Force each of the conferences to play 1 team from Mountain West and the Big East. No team would be allowed to play any D II school and be eligible for the Playoff. This would be a true start. However, as a UK fan, I will not have to worry about it in my lifetime. The Cats and the administration only care about the check that football revenue provides.
3&6) it’s pretty much an unwritten rule here you have to hate whoever/whatever posted at 9am. BTI sucks!!
9- I agree!
Call it the “Semi-Pro Bowls”.
GOT IT! I think we are all missing the boat here…. Just go ahead and call it the “SEC Playoffs”, since that is the only conference that will be in contention.
You been playin the Foosball behind my back????
Those logos all look like the generic logos you pick for your fantasy teams on yahoo. Is there an option to select “do-over?”
How long do we have to wait until this goes to 8 teams, or where it should be, 16 teams?
Why do we have to wait again?
March Madness for basketball and January Jamboree for football.
It clearly…clearly should be the BOWL PLAYOFF SERIES…the BPS folks. That’s what it obviously should. In fact, that is what the college football playoffs WANTS to be. (It told me last night in a dream.)
