The Adam Williams Era comes to an end

I never enjoy days like this, when it comes out that one of the UK players is leaving to look for greener pastures. But such is life, as today Adam Williams, the young stallion from West Virginia, has decided to transfer. Williams is most noted for his early commitment, giving a verbal to the University of Kentucky in 1995 at the tender age of 7. Ever since that day, Kentucky fans have wondered what would arrive on campus and have followed his every move. His initial year at Kentucky was a rough one, as the young man logged the fewest minutes ever for a Freshman since the sterling career of Todd Ziegler. His one major opportunity came at home against Ole Miss and it wasnt the prettiest of sights, as he played nervously, with a number of turnovers and fouls.

Nevertheless, I like Adam and am sorry to see him go. Maybe the most articulate player on the team, Williams is a workhorse and I think would have ultimately found some time in the lineup. But Williams wasnt so sure, and his decision to transfer does make some sense. It may be to Marshall or another “mid-major”, but whatever is the case, we wish him well. The kid has a ton of athletic ability, and when not trying to act like Jeff Sheppard in a Midnight Madness dunk contest, he seems to be able to harness it relatively well. I hope he has much success.

Now the question is, who fills the scholarship? And the answer…..well obviously it would be nice if it were Tyler Smith….but my guess is Phil Jones….and well, I dont know….another raw 7 footer….yikes.
