That’s cute, Wally Szczerbiak

Remember Wally Szczerbiak? You know, that half-Spanish guy who played at Miami (the one in Ohio) back in the late 90’s and led them to the Sweet Sixteen? He scored like 40 points in one of the games and everyone was obsessed with him because he had a name kind of like Coach K’s, is tall, white, and looked really hot in all those CBS highlight reels (well, he did). And…oh yeah, his team lost to KENTUCKY in the Sweet Sixteen and maybe he was really sad about it and probably cried hot half-Spanish tears. Well anyways, after ten years in the NBA, Wally is now an analyst for CBS Sports. And when he’s not getting hair-gelling tips from Gary Parrish or giving the camera bedroom eyes, Wally likes to tweet. Last night, Wally released this pearl of wisdom to the world:

Here comes the voice of reason, Jon Rothstein:

Yeah, seeing a Kansas-Kentucky matchup would be really gre—wait, didn’t that already happen? Back in November in Madison Square Garden?

Sigh…

After sleeping on it, Wally closed the conversation with these thoughts:

Oh Wally, you’re about to learn the power of the Big Blue Nation all over again. I hope you’re ready.

I guess Wally missed TJ leading UK in scoring against Alabama or playing well in the games since his finger has improved. I hope KU is UK’s 2 seed in the NCAA.

It’s a good thing the NCAA tourney isn’t a 2-on-2 tournament featuring 4s and 5s squaring off. I’ll take UK’s TEAM over KU’s TEAM any day of the week.

I kinda think he is right here. Jones definitely has been underachieving. T. Robinson is the best out there. It’s really close in my mind, but I’d give the edge to KU just cause of how they have been playing of late. T. Jones needs to get into beast mode stat.

Just because you played basketball, doesn’t mean you know how to analyze it.

I’d love to see a statistical breakdown of front courts: KY, UNC, Kansas, and any other team that Wally thinks is comparable.

    Blocks
    Rebounds
    Scoring
    Shooting %
    Free Throw %

And you have to include the 3 in a front court. Lebron and Melo both average over 7 rebounds per game. I guess they do that from the 3 point line :/

Regardless, Davis and Jones can stand on their own.

Sad to see that Jones effort is being questioned on a national level. I never imagined it would happen in his Soph campaign.

Wally didnt matter at lonely old Miami of Ohio, and guess what, Wally still doesnt matter. He is just butthurt because of the tourney beatdown we gave his squad. Yeah he got his stats, but he is not basketball expert or even analyst for that matter. We need to move on and so does KSR. Wally= Doesnt matter!

I was in New Orleans for the NCAA tourney games featuring Szczerbiak. Miami had a center named Mike Ensminger(#53) that was 6’6″ and would rebound, pass, run down the floor and set pick after pick after pick. They never let him touch the ball on offense. It was absolutely hilarious.

It’s a good thing we play 5 on 5 in baseketball or no one would be able to match the Thomas Robinson and (insert white centers name here from any years past) show. Those two are truly a dominating force in college basketball. And Wall nutz is just the person who would know best, since he is definately not disconnected from college basketball. Why is Wally Szcerbiakop;iasdfp even relevent? Oh thats right, he is not! Derek Zoolander is way more talented too!

Haha, great comparison pic, Tyler. Although I think Wally’s wrong, I don’t think it’s an absurd statement. At this point in the season, Davis (13p, 10r, 5b) beasts Withey (8p, 6r, 3.5b) at Center, but Robinson (18p, 12r, 1.2b) beasts Jones (12p, 6r, 2b) at PF.

Per person, UK’s tandom averages 12.5 points, 8rebound, and 3.5 blocks, while Kansas’s average 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks. So although he’s wrong, I don’t think Wally deserves the wrath of the BBN on this one.

37- T Rob is not better than Jones. Jones just isn’t playing to the best of his ability and I think everyone knows that. You mean to tell me with both playing to their full potential you would still put Robinson over Jones? If he was THAT good he would have been drafted last year.

T-Rob has been a beast, and is rightfully the leading POY candidate. But Withey is little more than a role player who has yet to score 15 points in a game this season.

    They don’t touch Zeller/Henson OR Davis/Jones.

42- I’ve seen glimpses of Jones potential and he is not playing even near to where he could. He needs to be more aggressive with his drives and not worry about someone putting a body on him. Look for him to have a break-out game soon. It either comes tonight or in Baton Rouge, 20-10 easy.
