Very sad news to report today as Mark Krebs mother, Terri has passed away after her bout with cancer. Terri fought the disease throughout the year and she was courageous and inspiring in her battle. I know how important it was to her and Mark that she was able to experience Mark’s senior year with him, culminating in an emotional day in Rupp Arena for Senior Day. Throughout the year she showed the same class and character that was exemplified in her son Mark during his time in Lexington. Over the past year, I have gotten to know Mark and he has become a very good friend. You probably know that Mark is a great kid, who loves the University of Kentucky and the basketball program as much as anyone that you will ever meet. But what you might not know is just how wonderful he is as a representative of Kentucky basketball off the court, giving of himself to fans of all ages and providing a role model to kids around the state. It is sometimes said that the best reflection of a person is by those that they leave behind. And by virtue of the personality and character of Mark Krebs, it is clear that Terri was an amazingly successful individual.
I know this is a very difficult time for he and his family and we join all of the Big Blue Nation in expressing our sympathy and offering our prayers.
