Terrence Jones throws a block party

Terrence Jones, Cole Aldrich

Terrence Jones has been on a tear lately. Since being recalled from the D-League a few weeks ago, Terrence has stormed onto the scene for the Rockets, averaging 9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Last night, he showed off his defensive prowess, blocking five shots in the Rockets’ win over the Kings, along with nine points, three rebounds and three steals.

Terrence says that his impressive play of late is a result of budding chemistry with his teammates and doing “everything it takes” to help his team:

“I’m just trying to build chemistry with the guys up here, trying to get comfortable up here. I’ve been playing a couple of games and I’m just trying to get in rhythm with everybody, reading everybody, knowing when they’re going to throw the pass, and knowing where to go. This is fun playing, so I’m just having fun playing.”

I mean, I’m just trying to play my game, and just try to do all the little things that can help me stay on the floor. That’s blocking shots, offensive rebounding, whatever it takes for me to stay out there and to be able to contribute to every win we get.”

Teach ’em, Terrence.

Said it before and will say it again. TJ was a underappreciated defender on the 2012 team. Good one on one and excellent help defender. His play against Taylor in the finals was impressive.

This is what made TJ so valuable to us in 2012. When your shots aren’t falling, what else are you doing to help your team? Blocking shots, offensive rebounding, whatever it takes….This should be engrained in the minds of every basketball player especially those in the AAU ranks. Otherwise once you get to where you are competing at a level where everyone is extremely talented, there won’t be much use for you on the floor if you aren’t scoring.

I’m going to the Nike Hoops Summit, and need some ideas for signs to convince Andrew Wiggins to come to UK. Any ideas.

    2. The game I watched Jones was guarding Thomas Robinson. Jones played very well though.
