We still have 68 days before the Cats extend their win streak over Tennessee to one game but it’s never too early to check in on those Volunteers down in Knoxville. Today we have two Vol-related tidbits for you. One is somewhat surprising while the second isn’t all that unusual in Knoxville.
– Phillip Fulmer speaks out against Lane Kiffin
Fulmer (who is still combating the ‘Don’t Feed Phil’ movement) finally spoke out against Kiffin on CBS Saturday. Phil dropped the “arrogant attitude” line in reference to his successor at Tennessee:
Tennessee is a very proud program as we all know with great traditions and the people of Tennessee felt betrayed to be honest with you. They were embarrassed, felt jilted with all the cost of the change there was. Kiffin, he left Tennessee with basically his hat in his hand and a bunch of NCAA compliance questions.
Many in our community are glad that he is gone. He never really embraced the traditions, the values of the program or the community for that matter. And often his arrogant attitude turned people off. The bigger question in my opinion is how does a guy like this end up with two jobs with historic football teams like Tennessee and USC.”
I understand Phil’s displeasure with Kiffin’s time at Tennessee but he could’ve at least thanked him for the year’s worth of Layla Kiffin sightings.
— Tennessee fan is the bigger man.
A very inebriated Gators fan showed off his short fuse as he did a little taunting outside Neyland Stadium after Tennessee’s 31-17 loss to Florida. The small fight was captured in this short clip.
